Fascinating.
Now I have to work out what it is / does, as it certainly wasn't an ornament originally !
Something in a mill, I suspect ...

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Looks like it is upside down.
Could be a push along cart, similar to a golf buggy. Could it have been for delivering papers?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Is it part of an old farm implement (though why you'd want to keep it, I can't imagine)
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Is it a bracket you use in pairs and they hang from a horizontal scaffold bar and then you put a plank across it to support your tools and buckets? Maybe when you are working at heights.
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
For wheeling out the front of a shop with a sign on it.
(Oh...and it is still upside down)

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
They hung from 2 horizontal scaffold bars to stop them swinging inwards and were boarded to be used as a working platform?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You're almost there China. Think sideways, you've got the right idea. Look carefully at the design and think what it would fit.

China has done all the spade work I think you should give it to him. Using these things is illegal now.

You're probably right P but the educative value is lost if we don't get it right. China, here's a clue for you!

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
To fit on ladders to hold cross boards? I'm not familiar with scaffolding but I've probably walked past many of them and never given them a second thought.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
The ladder hangers as they are in the picture were outlawed years ago but ladder hangers are not illegal ,if they can be modified to fit a handrail and use a youngerman board for the span they are ok,you can hire ladder hangers from most national hire shops such as Smiths and HSS..

I'm with Plaques on this one. Is it the handle of an elderly pair of hair clippers?
