Dudley Sutton died today aged 85.

I remember him fondly for Tinker Dill in Lovejoy, and Mr Carter the teacher in the Beiderbecke Trilogy. Simpler days when I used to enjoy and fully understand what was going on.

Just read his obituary from another source. Interesting that they are probably the only publication that would use the first word in the piece.

Is it relevant? I think so.

That is interesting David. Everyone else would be frightened to use the word Jewish. Just demonstrates how poisonous popular culture can become when herd instincts take over.

Making my way through Victory Klemperer's diaries. A jew that survived Hitler's holocaust and kept detailed diaries from 1933 to 1945. As a professor at a university he saw many of his associates leaving Germany to go to Israel. His thoughts were that these Zionists were doing to the Arabs exactly what Hitler was ding to the Jews. Of course you can't say that nowadays.

But you have P and I agree with you. Think back to our actions against the Mau Mau, totally forgotten today but every government has dark corners it would rather were not mentioned and a favourite tool is to cry "Racism". US and the Me Lai massacre. Abu Grave... 40 children killed in a rocket strike in Yemen.... make up your own list.
I applaud you for raising the point. I have little doubt that when Jeremy Corbyn supported the Palestinians he had such basic truths at heart. Voicing them automatically exposes you to retaliation.

See THIS BBC obituary for John Cunliffe the creator of Postman Pat and other children's characters. He has given a lot of happiness to a lot of kids over the years.
I used to spend a lot of time staying at the Old Library in Arisaig on the West Coast of Scotland run by my friends Angela and Alan Broadhurst. Alan told me that at one time John Cunliffe stayed in the Ferryman's House on Rhu peninsula by Arisaig in winter when it was empty. He reckoned that a lot of what became Postman Pat was conceived there during his stays. I have no independent evidence of this but it was 'common knowledge' in Arisaig.

The view of Eigg from the Ferryman's Cottage on Rhu. At one time a regular ferry to the Small Isles operated from a jetty here.
