We did about 5 miles in two and a quarter hours, over some rough ground above Whiworth. We got the photos but up on the tops in the old quarry the wind was wild and it was a bit treacherous when the path went near the edge. However we feel invigorated if a little wind swept.

I'll bet you did, that was a gusty wind yesterday. Those quarries are where all the old Rossendale flags came from for the weaving sheds. Bad bed so they had to plane them to make them flat which gave them a ridged surface.
I missed shed yesterday, I think I am slowing down a bit........ I read instead.

Ah, you young people, always gadding about! Have a nice time whatever you are doing.....
Shopping today of course. If I do get in the shed I am on straight turning after yesterdays fraught experience with broken taps! Why do we do things like this? Masochism I reckon......

I have been there Wendy, Bob worked in Berkeley for about 10 years before he went to Anglesey. We had a mobile home in the reidential park there. I remained in Rochdale with the girls and Bob worked there during the week at Berkeley Technology centre. It was next door to the nuclear oower station.

Well that's a surprise! When was he there? I worked there for a few months in 1973.

I worked at the castle not the power station! It's a lot more touristy now with the family having to make a fortune to pay for the upkeep.
Then I shall recommend a visit to the gardens at Spetchley outside Worcester, the Berkeley's summer home!

Its one to think about another time thanks as we are on a fixed 4 day tour. When did you work at the castle. Bob was down there from about 1987-1997 and again from 2001-4 although then he lived elsewhere

It was way back in 1973 that I was there Sue, it was an amazing place to live in. My room was in the keep, very close to the room where Edward 2nd was murdered. There were no other live in members of staff and if the Berkeley's went out for an evening there would just be me and the two little boys alone in the castle. 😨 Soon after the castle opened to the public in the spring the family decamped to Spetchley Park, where I spent a glorious summer wandering round the gardens, lake and deer park with my charges.

No wonder she has that air of competence and good breeding about her! Should we be calling her Ma'am?

Home to sun, it has been a very cold and wet trip to the Cotswolds, and the hotel eas very poor. The worst I have ever stayed in. It looked grand in a beautiful setting but let itself down. You can’t expect much on a cheap coachtrip, but decent beds, chairs, edible food and cleanliness are expected!

Usual maintenance activities and a couple of hours in the shed making more steady progress. No rush and I love the way it slowly grows under my fingers. I'm sure this is very good for me!
