WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
A 'lazy' tea for us today, boil in the bag lamb shanks and 'steam in the bag' veg. It's a bit awkward cooking while balancing on one leg, normal service should be resumed in a couple of days

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
On 'Farming this week' on R4 they were on a veggie farm in Warwickshire and the man said that supermarket sales of salad veg were almost all pre-prepared in bags, the trade in full head veg is almost dead. Not in this kitchen!
Did veggie shopping yesterday. Had steak pudding and peas for tea. I went to the fish van as well (far more expensive than my butcher's!) and so I had a smoked Mackerel fillet, peas and two fried eggs for tea.

Tiring when you cant walk properly isn't it Kev? A lot of folk don't realise how hard going it is when you have to think about every step. Trust you had the usual good do at the Raj.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
We did indeed, it was quite busy so H put us in the back room so no one could trip over my leg
I had Paulette get my food from the buffet so a win all round.
I'm sure my knee will be aching proper tomorrow, I have the odd twinge already...

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I ache all the time these days.....
Veggie cooking yesterday I mad red cabbage and bacon bits and it tuned out purple even with Carrots and broccoli in it! Had it with a scotch egg for tea. Dinner was another smoked mackerel fillet from the fish van with an egg. Far better than the small frozen ones, fat and oily!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Tuna, Cauliflower and Sweetcorn Mornay tonight. Quite often I make the Mornay with Red Salmon instead of Tuna, but the price of the wild caught Alaskan Red Salmon has been prohibitive of late. No one is buying it. We check it out every week to see if it is on special, but it rarely is. They have priced themselves out of the market for us.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sausages and the veggies X two for dinner and tea, The cabbage, bacon, broccoli and carrots is good and tastes nice but I am forced to admit that the use of Red Cabbage was a mistake. It's as black as the fire-back and looks most peculiar. I can imagine this putting many people off it!

Well... I wasn't allowed to help with dinner, and I wasn't allowed to help with the dishes afterward. As far as I know, I do not have a hitherto unknown terminal disease, so what else could he want!?

Maz! Perhaps he's just being nice. If he brought a bunch of flowers would you immediately wonder what he had done wrong?
I had two small bowls of the cabbage and veg for dinner and tea. It really is a peculiar colour!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I split the last of the cabbage and veggies into two half bowls. I had the first with added frozen mixed veggies for dinner and the second with black pudding and two fried eggs for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I fell off the carb wagon at dinnertime. I really fancied two small Ciabatta rolls with a ridiculously large amount of St Augur cheese in them so I did it. They were lovely! I had made onion and tomato relish and had a small pork pie with that and frozen mixed veggies for tea. I do like the combination of tomatoes and onions with olive oil. Something miraculous happens if you give them time to get married! (No Garlic Maz!)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I grilled Cumberland Sausages and had one with onion and tomato and mixed veggies for dinner. Same for tea but with the addition of a few frozen chunky potato wedges. Naughty but nice. Nothing quite replaces the taste of good spuds deep fried in dripping with sea salt and vinegar on them..... I know Wendy doesn't agree but a little of what you fancy seems to suit me..... Apart from my back I am in remarkably good nick! (That was a mistake wasn't it. Tempting fortune!)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I made Colcannan yesterday using cream and butter! That, together with boiled carrots and the remainder of the onion and tomato made dinner and tea. I added a Cumberland sausage to my tea..... Lovely filling stuff and the cream and butter added a bit of luxury.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Sausage and fried egg for dinner. Sausage and Colcannan for tea. My guests were going to leave early because they were hungry but after half a bowl of Colcannan each they were in no pain and Lorena wants the recipe. They loved it.....
