I heard the report. I note that he moved to the UK because he didn't agree with the concept of having others direct how his business should be run and then found the same regime was being planned here!

We have lost a magnificent singing voice. Jessye Norman has died aged 74. Her voice was amazing, a very rich soprano that was almost a mezzo. (LINK)

Peter Sissons has died, aged 77. He went to the same school as Jimmy Tarbuck and John Lennon.

It’s been a while since I’ve posted on this site but it’s been a miserable few months.

My Mum died and I must admit, now that I’ve got used to the idea, it was time. She refused food for so long she weighed only 33 kg when she died at 92 years old. Exactly a month later my husband’s 95-year-old Uncle was knocked off his mobility scooter by a car, and was killed instantly. Move on another 6 weeks and my Mother in Law died quite unexpectedly. Out for lunch with family on Tuesday, not so good Wednesday, hospital Thursday and died overnight on Friday.

We are now both the oldest generation.

I learned today via Facebook that a member of the site, Bradders Bluesinger has passed away. His daughter wrote "My funny, talented, bossy, optimistic and amazingly cheerful Dad died in hospital yesterday.
I really did not want to do the fb announcement thing, and my sincere apologies to anyone I haven’t managed to contact in person. Please be assured that he definitely would’ve seen the funny side of his death being announced between videos of cats and some political bickering.
I will miss him a lot." RIP Bradders. Nolic

Sad news. I liked Bradders, and have fond memories of him. He hadn't been on for a long time, but I remember him well. This gives a flavour of the man.

Bradders bluesinger

i seem to remember his mum played the organ at the local church in Devon or somewhere, - and he was a friend of Seasick Steve, and he played my kind of music.

Well, that was a flood of mortality....
Liz, that's a hard row to follow. Two long lives and a quick departure. Unfortunately it's the way of the world and you are a sensible woman, you will adapt but it was a bit much!
Thanks for that Comrade. I often wondered what he was doing..... He'll be remembered fondly by many people I think.

I've only just realised who Bradders was. I remember a certain former member of OG getting worked up because Bradders and I questioned his claim about the crown jewels having been stored in Clitheroe Castle during the war. He referred to `Tizer and his mate Bradders' when we actually only knew each other through posts on OG. Perhaps he thought any two people who live in the West Country must be mates! (Bradders lived in Cornwall.)

I have a vague memory of that Tiz. Was it 'Catgate' or something like that? He was the original Mr Angry.

I remember him as well. A very strange interlude and I understood why he was particularly scary for the ladies. Good riddance!

I liked Catgate! He had a wonderful sense of the ridiculous and he made me laugh...one of those people who approached life from a sideways angle AND made me rethink some things. I didn't find him offensive at all.

Catgate was always entertaining, I think Stanley was referring to Wolf frightening the ladies but he was before my time. Bradders did get quite annoyed by posts he didn't agree with and I think the culprit was Hartley1949(?) who set out to upset everyone.
