Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
When I first moved down here in the 1980's I lived next door to a chap who was a retired lamplighter. Must have been one of the last. He had done the lights in the royal parks which I guess had gas lamps a lot later than most areas.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
If you look up lamplighters on Google you'll find that there are still lamplighters at work in cities that have promoted tourism and kept traditional gas lamps in central areas. (LINK)

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Looks like it could be a pub. Are they delivering ice? The sets in the roads are very even, is it Belgium? I've no idea why I say that!
Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
It does look a bit foreign. I wonder if they are containers of frying fat for a restaurant or hotel?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Guess it can't contain anything too smelly, drippy or repugnant if the carter at the door is carrying it on his shoulders!
Could it be Coal? (Though that does not need putting in a tub when a sack would do).
Could it be dried Peat?

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
You've got the place right, It's the Netherlands. Sorry but you are all wrong on what they are doing.
Clue, they are taking material out of the building not putting it in.
