Yes it’s been awful watching the NZ volcano news. NZ are opening a criminal investigation of deaths.

Nice one David. A kind thought in a naughty world....

I keep forgetting to say that I saw a very rare sight on Fernbank Avenue a couple of days ago. A Scania 6 wheeler with a tidy load of bags on the flat, roped and sheeted. Not a lot of it about these days!

I forgot to mention that the pedestrian crossing at Post Office Corner is having a funny do. It's stopping the traffic at random intervals even though nobody is there.
More important is news from Susan that today could be the day Jess has her baby. She is over there being broody....

I remember this happening about 20 years ago when the Royal Mail sorting office was up on the top floor there. Two of us were 'working' nights and the beep-beep-beeps were stopping us sleeping....! :biggrin2: It turned out that someone had put chewing gum on the button keeping it pressed in all the time!

Here in our town centre I found that one of the crossings had a strange quirk that proved useful. When you pressed the button to cross the road you had to wait longer than normal for it to respond. I found that if you pressed it a second time it worked immediately. Unfortunately I think the council found out and had it put back to normal!

Do you have diagonal crossing yet? It will come.
All traffic stands still and pedestrians cross both ways plus diagonally at crossings.

A bit behind the curve but found in the Burnley Express. Langroyd Planning permission is to be submitted to house vulnerable adults in four extra units to create 33 flats. This would require part of the hall to be demolished.

I can see some of the nearby residents not being happy with this proposal.

Thank you Wendy. A Barlick lad did the job, it looks so much better than the ugly ass door it replaced.

Planning permission seems to be given in some of these cases without consideration for things like parking space. There's a small cul de sac of bungalows in our neighbourhood and a care company got permission to house someone there. There was already very little parking space but now it also has to accommodate frequent extra vehicles visiting and parking in the turning space.

I hope Maz and Cathy are prepared for the heat...

Yes we appear to be having a 4 day heatwave next week, T 40, W 40, Th 41 and F 42. It won’t be pleasant. A couple of weeks ago it reached 38/39 on one of the days that I volunteer and I received an email saying that I didn’t have to go in if I didn’t want to (first time that has happened). I went in because it was only 1 day of that heat, but with 4 days in a row I’ll see how I feel if I receive an email again.
We all get the emails, not just me.
