Spot on, Gloria! They're the buildings that hid the gasholders at Saltisford, Warwick, built in 1822 and `..one of the oldest and best preserved gasworks in the world. The central block has wings flanked by octagons, containing the gasometers [in a central court].' They're now converted into apartments. Their original purpose was to convey a sense of safety by hiding the gasholders and preventing the public from getting worried about them. That's why I think the windows might have been bricked in when built. Not that the buildings would have been much use if the gas exploded!
