I like the pic..... I met a snake or two in Oz.

Image

This one passed within about 3 feet of me near the beach in NSW. It wasn't until a bloke congratulated me on standing still as it passed that I found out it was a red bellied black, not deadly but a serious snake to be avoided! (LINK)
What grabs me today is the fact I don't have to go to Airedale and have 50cc of live BCG injected into me. Yippee!! Life is suddenly a lot brighter.

Whoops, I forgot to add the link for the piggy bank item (video of UK's gold store). I've added it to the original post but here it is again: LINK

last week I was on my way to Airedale..... And I have had another early birthday present, at enormous expense a book on canals from a concerned ratepayer. :biggrin2:

It's the stone that carried the bottom pivot of a barn door, the top one was a hoop of iron let into the wall that held the rounded top of the end timber member of the door. The same one that had a rounded piece at the bottom, 5" would be about right. Very similar to the hinge on the gate of a canal lock.

I'm sure you are right Stanley but I thought it might be cut out for a small drain cover.

I could be wrong Wendy and you could well be right but the combination of it being close to a barn and what I have seen myself with old barn doors and how they were hung leads me to be almost certain.

Confused now as I cant see an old barn that it would fit in its current position.

I'll have to try work it out I guess!

Christian. nobody is ever 100% right and Wendy's suggestion about a drain could be right. But, as I once said to John Clayton about a stone he was enthusing about, in the end it's only a stone! :biggrin2: Don't lose sleep over it!

It could always have been moved as well, no guarantee that it is in its original position.

The variation in price for an Aqualisa Quartz shower 'engine'. There are no user serviceable parts inside the electric shower and one of the heater elements is on the way out so you have to replace the interior module. I finally tracked one down for £97, with a £10 next day delivery. Some places were asking nearly £200...
