I adjusted the pendulum a couple of turns at 9pm last night, the time still matches my phone this morning. I'm going to leave it now (honest guv'nor) until the weather warms up when I'll look at cleaning and lubrication (the clock that is, not me).
I must have got lucky, it's still 'bang on' :good:

Just a heads up on the previous, it was a 3 legged obstacle race , the first one was in the early 1980s, one of the features of the race was to stop at each of the 15 bars in the town and drink a pint in turn at each one, my partner and i did it in under 40 mins and didn't win, we were bet by under 18 couple of boys who drank minerals i/2 pints i might add, all good craic in a small Irish town

craic
/krak/
Learn to pronounce
nounIrish
noun: craic

enjoyable social activity; a good time.
"he loves the craic, the late nights"

Origin
1970s: Irish, from English crack (sense 4 of the noun). The English word apparently entered Irish English from Scots in the mid 20th century and subsequently assumed an Irish Gaelic form.

`Europe's oldest person survives Covid just before 117th birthday' LINK
`A French nun who is Europe's oldest person has survived Covid-19, just days before her 117th birthday. Lucile Randon, who took the name of Sister Andre in 1944, tested positive for coronavirus on 16 January but didn't develop any symptoms. She told local media she "didn't even realise I had it". She isolated separately from other residents in her retirement home in Toulon, southern France, but is now considered fully recovered. Sister Andre, who is blind and uses a wheelchair, is now looking forward to celebrating her birthday on Thursday - although she is going to mark the occasion with a smaller group of residents than usual..''

I forgot to say Kev, you weren't 'lucky' with the clock. You did the right thing and it worked. That's efficient intervention and maintenance!

Whoops! The BBC don't seem to know the difference between pimp and primp! See this screenshot of the headline on this article today: BBC I've sent details to Private Eye magazine.

Hard to keep up isn't it? Not if you watch Pimp my Ride though. Puzzled me for a while, since I know other meanings for both pimp and ride.

Times have changed Peter. Listen to Joyce Grenfell today telling her children to "have a gay time and bounce your balls against the wall" and you realise why we can never go back.....

Unofficially perhaps but not recognised as that by Collins or Oxford dictionaries, one or other of which I would expect the BBC's style guide to follow.

What grabbed me was mail from Margaret asking me if I had forgotten that today is Valentine's Day and I am 85! That was exactly what I'd done, forgotten the date. Just shows how birthdays get less and less important as the years roll by!
Those ice formations reminded me of a day of freezing fog on the moor many years ago when ice formed on fence wires and power lines and bushes. We might see that today because this afternoon the conditions will be right for an ice storm.

Of the ‘Shelter’ pics the LadyBird pic is my favourite, and the New Brighton Lighthouse.

I'm fascinated by the current major Tesco TV and Radio advert. I've studied it with care, but can find no 'woke' element to it at all. That's very unusual these days, and quite disturbing.

There are no BAME characters at all. They are pushing big 30 day aged sirloin steaks - no hint of vegetarianism or veganism. The lad says his mum and dad have gone their separate ways - and he is cooking steaks for his dad and his 'date'. Subtle remark about leaving out the garlic - that's probably as controversial as it gets.

Ah - thinks I, perhaps the date is a man? That would bring it up to spec. However I've examined it carefully close up and the person who comes through the door - just a glimpse - seems to be female - or is at least is dressed as female. Maybe there will be a follow up advert?

What's the point of an advert if it doesn't have a worthy social message to convey? :laugh5:
