That's not exactly right China but you deserve it to be. it's not the high pressure pump that was used for the HP steam cylinder but a low pressure pump that returned the oil in the drain tanks back to the aquarium oilers that lubricated the flywheel and second motion bearings.

Here's one off the Bancroft engine, I had taken it off to clean it. A slightly different design but still effective after 60 years service.

It doesn't ring any bells with me! Looks to have a groove with a seal inside it. Is it some sort of automatic oiler, chain driven as Big Kev said?

I have an idea Ken is laughing at you China. Think back a couple of days and see if you can recognise where you triggered me into this one.
This is going well isn't it. :biggrin2: Thanks Ken for keeping stum....

Stanley you are crediting me with a better memory than I really have. I'm keeping stum because I can't remember its name. Definitely not laughing at China in fact it could be the other way round. What stuck in my memory was thinking 'that's a complicated piece of kit glad I wasn't playing with it'. Even now I'm not sure if it wasn't for someone who doesn't exist any more. :laugh5:

Originally I thought it could be a hydraulic fluid pump and then decided against it, but then suggested it was a h.p. oil pump. I've no idea. I must pay more attention to what you refurbish! :biggrin2:

It's the interior of one of these. A Kirkham high pressure cylinder lubricating pump. Ken is right, I refurbished two of them.

I don't think it's a vice as it doesn't have two jaws. It obviously moves some keyed item that fits into the bed and the screw moves that laterally. Is it some kind of tool or guide holder?
