‘Starkerghs’-(lost). Historical forms: Stratesurgum 1086 DB,
Starkesbergh 1251 puds, starkeshergh 1251 FF, startholfhisherix Hy3 puds.
ETYMOLOGY: first appears to be a personal noun corresponding to OG ‘starculf’. (Cf Feilitzen 373) or an unrecorded on Starkulfr, of which starker is a shortened form, like DB strates (sic. for starces). 2nd el. is ON erg.
Means:- dairy farm, shieling.

Thanks for that but we are all so old now that I suspect we will have to leave Middop to the younger end. Hopefully thEy will find our stuff and go forward...
