Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Spooky time again - I eat spam about once or twice a year - you've guessed it I had fried spam with bubble and squeak last night for tea.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Funny isn't it.....
I know that Spam is a con trick and simply the way to get rid of the trimmings from Hormel's premium ham products. Fat, shoulders and off cuts all minced up and spiced but when It's fried the crust on the outside tastes so good!
I regained my sanity yesterday and had chicken and veggies X two for breakfast and tea (and I had a tiny helping for lunch as well as a reward for cooking).

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Another Spam Spooky.
Alan Ashworth of Clitheroe covers it in his weekly slot. In praise of Spam
He mentions Hawaii but not The Philippines where it's also very popular. Probably a carry over from WW II. You can get one of these at Jollibee.

I remember visiting the Spam Museum in Austin (LINK) and complaining because they didn't have a cafe where you could get a fried Spam sandwich!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Spam is always alive and well at most 1940's days that we have visited.
Great minds think alike, I had a fried spam butty for my dinner yesterday, used the runt end of my last home baked Chia loaf. We found strong flour yesterday morning so I baked a couple of loaves in the afternoon. As the oven was on I made some rock buns as well.

I had chicken and veggies X two for breakfast and tea. I had a snack at lunch time, an onion fried in rings until it was brown with two fried eggs. Carb free, tasty and fattening!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
chicken and veggies X two for breakfast and tea. And no it's not boring, the meat and veggies is sitting in the same pan in a cold fridge and the tastes gradually strengthen and combine all week. It really is better now than four days ago!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
The last of the chicken and veggies for breakfast and tea. Cooking today!
(I do like to have a clear out of the fridge by Friday night. I don't understand fridges full of leftovers!)

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Straight chicken for breakfast and a big mistake for tea. I 'treated' myself to a butty and paid the price. I have to accept that bread is definitely off the menu!

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Ciabatta is notoriously high in carbs, that's probably why.
I still eat bread but try and stick to lower carb options, I made some focacia yesterday which is reasonably low and slow release. I had a piece with a latte for lunch which kept me going until tea time.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
I must have developed a very high resistance to bread Kev and have learned my lesson.
I cooked white cabbage and various exotic veggies with spices and produced a panful of delight.
Good job I did because when the butcher's order was delivered there was no chicken! I have fished out a lump of mutton and will survive. Breakfast and tea was chicken with veggies. Almost finished, just one helping left for breakfast this morning.....

Mutton and veggies X two for Breakfast and tea. It improves as the week goes on, marvellous what a spell sat in the fridge does for cooked food like this.

Re: WHAT DID WE HAVE FOR TEA?
Spicy Wings and veggies got me through the day but I will admit to falling off the carb wagon whilst on Bookie watch yesterday. I treated myself to a bacon butty with brown sauce from Babs at Barlick Bites..... (I know, distinct lack of moral fibre!)
