We are also experiencing changeable weather. High winds yesterday, heavy rain last night but although lots of cloud we have blue skies and that ball of fire in the sky (Sun) popping out occasionly. Not the type of weather we have come to expect so far flaming June is flaming awful Eileen

Come on now Peter, a Navy man and former boat builder! I think we should all be coming down to your house to board. Let me know when you have launched

Once you launch the ark, you may well get blown this way very quickly, we have just measured a 45mph gust and I think the wind is meant to keep strengthening till the early hours of tomorrow morning. Please bring supplies (mostly alchohol please).

It rained didn't it. No general danger of flooding in Barlick because we are on the watershed but Earby could be a bit wet.... Not raining at the moment, Glass heading towards 29.6" so the low has passed over, you can all relax! I shall inspect the beck later.

Glad I am here at the moment. Yesterday we had some wind but I sat out reading and Dave went fishing. This morning blue sky and sunshine and a mild breeze. Some friends have sailed home this morning hope it isn't too rough when the arrive in the UK Eileen

Earby has a problem that goes back a long way, a greater part of it is built on what was a lake bed. When Brookfield Estate was built. the water table was at best only 15" below the land surface, I have the remains of a Conch Shell that was excavated in that area, what is left is 4" long, must have been quite a lake.

More heavy rain tonight, a bit better tomorrow and a few dryer days to come early next week. Could be more rain after that?

I rang my daughter who lives in Water Street Earby yesterday to ask her how things were but got no reply because she's been taken into hospital because of an acute stomach bug. Her house is safe because whoever built the houses had his head screwed on, he raised them 3 feet above the foundations. Funnily enough, drainage gets a look at in my Salterforth articles....
Not a wet day yesterday but not summer either. We have had rain during the night and its overcast and damp outside. The glass is undecided what to do, it's dropped back to 29.5" so it wouldn't surprise me to see more showers today. Rochdale, Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd etc had the worst of it yesterday. Flooding is such a destructive event, I feel sorry for those affected. More heavy rain forecast for the SW today but it looks as though the worst effects of the low will miss us.

Yesterday was OK if not high summer. Glass has risen to 29.9", nice to see a slow rise because this generally means stable weather and perhaps some hope for the wage slaves at weekend. This morning looks promising, there is a mist and a heavy dew, always a good sign at this time of the year.

It's about time the weather stablized. Warm and dry here am, rain pm and through the night. Never known the weather to be like this in the 4 years we have been coming here. Eileen

Light rain in the air in late afternoon, gradually got heavier. Glass is creeping back towards 29.2" and very dull outside with light rain but air flow is very warm. Thunder weather but the forecasters say these will be mainly over towards the East. Could be a brief bust of sun this afternoon but more rain on its way in from the West. Not high summer!
Just back from our walk. Brightening up and quite a pleasant morning. The gardens will love it, good growing weather!

9.30pm and there is a huge bank of mist slowly tumbling over the top of the Bowland Fells like a giant tidal wave.....I think Barlick might disappear under it before it gets dark....byeee

Drimmy end to the day but very humid and warm. Glass has fallen to 29.5" and we are promised rain and perhaps thunder by the forecasters. I wouldn't argue with them. Good weather for plants and pests!

Just back from our early morning walk. Very close and occasional big drops of rain. I think we shall see a heavy shower before long. Reports from N Ireland of heavy showers and flash floods, this is the weather coming in towards us from the west. Check your drains are clear!

The wind is in the East at the moment. The mist didn't come down from the tops after all last night did it? There was a roll of it creeping round the back of Bleara this morning but it soon cleared.
