I would have put it in the politics thread, but it is probably far too important for that IMHO

Re: Town Centre Scrutiny Committee (Pendle)
Whats the alternative use of Town Centres ?
And the question
Will you consider using the town centres more , is a bit daft , as doesnt have a comparator of how often one is 'using' the town centre ( at what time , for what purpose ) in the first place

I agree,
I possibly wouldn't have started from the point at which this committee did.
I have been to all their meetings, and I will acknowledge that I have been impressed with the Officer Kath Heywood but she is really only doing the bidding of the panel whilst also trying to influence the direction.
The many people that I talked to yesterday as I went around the town seemed actually quite enthusiastic about it
The standard of up keep of the toilets and the car park will hopefully be mentioned, but the best suggestion that I was given was the setting up of a "focus group" without cllrs present, but obviously a council officier to actually feedback what people wanted; that could meet on a regular basis and that should mean that one party can not push a particular agenda and over whelm the rest. Quite a bit of hostility too
