Maz, we're pleased to hear that David is doing well after his op.

When I worked for Boot's Chemists In the late 1960s you could still get `milk stout' on prescription. I don't know when that was stopped and can't find any information about it on the Web.

Milk stout on prescription. In days gone by it was recommended for nursing mothers and I suspect one of its attributes is a high iron content and in the days before pasteurisation of beer and 'bottoms' in the bottle, no doubt there would be the yeast related vitamins as well. Remember the days when pouring Guinness and some strong bottled beers was an art? You had to stop before you got to the bottoms.
Main thing today is a visit to the dentist for the final fitting of the wax version of me bottom set. Next week I shall stop lithping and start chewing! Yippee!

Guinness was bottle-conditioned (i.e. yeast remained in the bottle to give it some `fizz') until the 1990s. Worthington White Shield is still bottle conditioned, although now brewed in a microbrewery owned by Molson Coors - it started out as an India Pale Ale in 1829 and was give the White Shield name in about 1870.

Eileen, they felt fine if rather like a small dustbin lid because my jaw muscles will have shrunk. It will take at least four weeks for everything to settle down. I could talk fine without them moveing....
Today is more articles to build the BET stockpile in case I am hampered by eye surgery....

Glorious sunny afternoon. Have been for a long walk with Dave. We didn't have to stop once and he managed a good pace. We are both pleased with his progress. Cardiac review tomorrow, so expecting good news...( and hoping he can come off some of these damn medications that will be sending us to the poor-house if he has to remain on them.)

Morning Maz! And morning to David as well, good to hear he's progressing well. As for paying for the pills.... would you believe that some people complain about the NHS over here?

Good luck with progress!

Having become a bit of a consumer expert on cardiac affairs, suspect some of Dave's medications may be life long.

Just taken my morning handful of tablets and glad that my pre-payment prescription certificate makes the direct cost only a couple of quid a week spread over a year.

Good writing day yesterday, have almost reached a comfortable level in the stock pile. Should have it nicely padded by weekend and after that I'll top it up as necessary.

More stock-piling for the BET and when I've finished that I have to do a lot of work on the LTP files to get them ready for re-loading onto the new platform. Only a million words..... How the hell does an old bloke like me manage to get myself into positions like this......

Been to Mum's and am now recovering with the help of a nice big glass of wine. After years of dithering she finally decided (thanks to the anti depressants  ) to have her bedroom & en-suite shower room decorated. It's all done now and I have been helping her get all her things back in, hang curtains & pictures etc. She doesn't like it....it's too bright! She was looking forward to a shower but just before the decorators came she pulled the control thingy off. Hubby (who has repaired it in the past) provided me with the right screwdriver to tighten up the tiny screw that holds it all together, but this time a plastic moulding inside the handle had sheared. Oh no! I found some glue and botched it.... it won't last I'm afraid, but at least I got her in the shower and managed to turn the water off again afterwards.Phew.

Been in the lakes on an art course for a week, now in Coventry looking after the grandchildren for today. They have been wonderful well behaved little girls (4 years and 18 months). Off to France later in the week, the Tour de France is going through our local town and villages on the 9th. Then we are going down to Carcasonne for a few days. Weather forecast is excellent.
