Sally, welcome to the site. How nice to have a proper forename to respond to. Very helpful for crumblies like me, we remember names better than 'site names'. Hope you enjoy the site, we are all friendly....

Hello Carleton Gal and welcome to OGFB's new look site. I presume you are from Carleton near Skipton because I can't, at the moment, think of any other Carleton's though I'm sure there are some. Anyhow, enjoy yourself on the forum. As Stanley says, we are all a friendly lot, most of the time ! only joking. :laugh5:

HI Sally, welcome to the site some of my ancestors were in and around Carlton in Craven, one of them William married and was buried there.
Best Wishes

Have a look in the archive in 'Stanley's View' and search for 'Horace Thornton'. A series of articles and the first half of them refer to Carleton as he was born there. His interviews are in the LTP as well.

These TLAs crop up all over the place don't they! TLA is a three letter abbreviation standing for three letter abbreviation. Stanley, explain for newbies LTP - I know (but I'm not sure where to find it now),

Sorry. LTP is the Lancashire Textile Project and you can find it in the archive if you look in its own section of the forums page. I'll go and have a look and see if I can find a page address. Google will be indexing it shortly.
Try this: http://archive.oneguyfrombarlick.co.uk/ ... le+Project

I've checked and it works.
