It was due to dock on 23rd... (slow boats from China and all that). Once it's with the contractors, they'll be back on site to complete the work.

Met with John Broughton again last week, together with council staff, and reassured him of their being no impact on their family's property as a result of the new opening.

As it happens, there's an aerial photo on the office wall at their yard which shows the area before the garages were built. The steps at the southern end of the gardens, which are still in place, provided an access to and from the gardens onto Mosley Street...

Seems odd they kicked up such a fuss if they knew a previous entrance already existed. Hopefully things will get moving again soon.

Another local resident, who is keen to see the work got on with, has reported surveyors measuring the garage site at the back of the gardens...

Meanwhile, the Barnoldswick in Bloom group will be finalising planting plans for the new beds tomorrow evening.

Much discussion at tonight's meeting about the planting scheme by Bloom volunteers; some work to do on drawing up a firm schedule for the new planting before seeking prices for a shipping order of plants to go in during September (hopefully).

Noticed some new markings, on Mosley, Mosely, Mousley Street, near the new entrance today. Look like measurements for something. They could have been there a while but I've not been aware of them before.

It's going to look great when it's finished. Initial issues with the curved steps look to have been resolved and the gates are away being shotblasted, galvanized and painted.

Had a look at the work this morning; the gardens are set to look much better than they did!

Recovering from serious surgery so not here to debate just a few questions for those who may know.
What has happened to all the Yorkshire stone that was removed from the front of the gardens?
What has happened to the WW11 Memorial gate, the Blind garden gate and plaque, are they coming back?
When is the Blind garden getting its facelift?
What is going to be done with the exposed brickwork and rough ground at the back access which has now created a step ladder effect onto the garages?
Why is the contractor leaving it open when there is still machinery, loose stones and unfinished, unsafe walling although that didn't seem to bother the kids who were in there at 9 pm last night paintballing?
That's all from me, not really up to much at the moment but I am concerned about the rough state of it at the moment.

What has happened to all the Yorkshire stone that was removed from the front of the gardens?

Some has been reused to rebuild walls and create new walls in the Gardens - the concrete copings have gone to tip.

What has happened to the WW11 Memorial gate, the Blind garden gate and plaque, are they coming back?

The gates are currently being refurbished and will be refitted when the job is complete.

When is the Blind garden getting its facelift?

The garden for the blind refurbishment is being led by Barnoldswick in Bloom, with an emphasis on creating a Sensory Garden. The group raised over £1,000 towards the work by holding Duck Races during Barnoldswick Beach. The work will be carried out as a second phase and involve school children in the detailed planning and implementation. The aim is to complete work by next spring.

What is going to be done with the exposed brickwork and rough ground at the back access which has now created a step ladder effect onto the garages?

The remainder of the brick walls are to be replaced with railings to match those at the front, with a ground level wall built from recycled stone from elsewhere in the gardens.

Why is the contractor leaving it open when there is still machinery, loose stones and unfinished, unsafe walling although that didn't seem to bother the kids who were in there at 9 pm last night paintballing?

The contractor will be leaving the gardens in a safe state; any loose stone is behind a barrier (there's a lot less loose stone about than before the work began, and there are fewer hazards than before the work began).

I had a good look round this afternoon and didn't see any paint splashes. Mr Cock, who lives in the bungalow on the corner overlooking the gardens, didn't mention seeing anything.
