Re: SPRING 2012
This just about sums up Barlick yesterday, low cloud and mizzle most of the day, Doc will have been in cloud most of the day at Prospect just behind the mill on top of the ridge. Not cheerful weather but good for the re-pointing job on Bancroft chimney. You can't beat damp clement weather for curing new compo. No movement in glass, 30" this morning, mild, damp and a significant breeze.

Re: SPRING 2012
Third day of "Filthy" here....Nice!
Re: SPRING 2012
Was wet and miserable this morning but sun shining now - feels nice to be a bit warmer.
Say only a little but say it well.
Re: SPRING 2012
Wet at first then sun came out.. first washing dried on the line this year!
Re: SPRING 2012
Wind and heavy rain when we left Rochdale this morning. At Burnley it was fine drizzle and then the sun came out.
If you keep searching you will find it

Re: SPRING 2012
Same here, wet morning but a very pleasant afternoon. Clear sky this morning, mild breeze, colder but fresh and dry. Glass risen to 30.2" and looks as though it could be a decent late February day. We have been very lucky and on Wednesday we slip into March. There is hope for us yet!

Re: SPRING 2012
We've just survived 4 very hot days (34C to 39C), real stinkers. 27C for tomorrow and maybe a thunder storm
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here.

Re: SPRING 2012
I don't know how you cope with the heat Cathy. I get uncomfortable at about 20C. Nowhere near that yet though! More curlews around this morning, and the lambs are starting to appear out in the fields.
Re: SPRING 2012
Yes I feel Spring is on its way, more and more crocuses in flower every day. We saw lambs a coupl of weeks ago when we driving backwars and forwards to Balckburn hospital
If you keep searching you will find it
Re: SPRING 2012
I look forward to seeing the first lambs, we have tulips, crocus, snowdrops and mini daffodils out. The camelias are not far off bursting out too, I hope we don't get any more keen frosts. Dull and damp here with not a breath of wind.
Say only a little but say it well.

Re: SPRING 2012
Grass getting longer , dandelions have bloomed all over it at mini hight , they have learnt how to avoid the mower ( alas no sheep as mix of toxic plants in the lawns and the housing association dont like domestic animals on the commununal areas )

Re: SPRING 2012
Cathy, the heat is wearing I know and that's one of the advantages of the Fremantle Doctor on the West coast. You get that lovely afternoon onshore breeze to give some relief. The thing that always surprises me is how we gradually adjust to the temperatures if we are in a hot climate for long enough. I remember Janet asking Harry to grab a cardigan for her as she felt cold and he pointed out that tit was 27C! She's definitely acclimatised!
You're all right about the signs of movement. Crocuses (or crocii?) blooming in drifts on the old railway sidings, birds active and buds breaking out on the trees. Lovely time of the year. Gentle drizzle this morning and the glass is down slightly at 30" Not cold and gentle breeze. This is excellent February weather and we have much to be thankful for.
(These plurals are confusing aren't they. I remember the apocryphal story about the man who posted a parcel to a friend with a covering note. He wrote "I have sent you these crocuses" He than altered this to 'crocii' but didn't like that so he wrote a new version, " I have sent you a crocus. PS I have enclosed three more".)

Re: SPRING 2012
Damp but clement morning in Barlick. Wind is NW which is peculiar because Scotland has NE! High night temperatures in Aberdeen, 16C! Glass is steady on 30" and it's about 10C so no problems.

Re: SPRING 2012
Crazy weather, it's back to almost winter for us. 24C the last two days, yesterday was a bit muggy, today was full of rain and cold (same temp!!)
Very tired today, I think it was because I couldn't go outside for long. Great sleeping weather tho

Re: SPRING 2012
Cathy, better than the very hot weather!
Same here Moh, nailed on 30". Never mind, it may be boring but it's good weather for the time of the year. I see someone is forecasting another 'Arctic Blast'. We'll see, we are moving out of winter now thank God!
16C reported yesterday in Hereford. Same again today forecast for East Anglia.
