...Going to two interviews. Fresh outfit and tidy hair and my own sweet self. Fingers crossed everyone please. (Excepting those with arthritis or rheumatism of course).

Comrade, discussion was interesting. Amazing what nearly 40 years in the job brings you. It seems that no-one has identified for them the number of "rushed" adoptions that have gone bad with adopters not having time and support in preparing to take on children and reacting in tragic ways including murder. Their are two cases from 20 and 30 years ago that I have pointed them to as well as more recent ones from last year http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article ... -pair.html Lets see what happens.

Good Luck Julie.
Nolic, I have sent you a pm, as we went through an awful time when we adopted back in the '80s. Hoped things were better now, and that much more support was given to adopting parents, but perhaps things haven't changed that much.
Oh dear, I'm mainly meant to down in Colne library, and I've got all stirred up about this instead!

Building work here. Been assisting Colin to lift & position two very very heavy concrete lintels to replace an old wooden one full of woodworm. Acrow props supporting everything but I get scared! Kitchen covered in plaster and dust everywhere....ah, the joys of DIY.

A visit at lunchtime from a friend who lives in the Scilly Isles, formerly a nutrition scientist, then retired and now an expert on bats, registered to handle them. Set up a project with the University of Exeter and re-discovered the Brown-Eared Bat which was thought to be extinct in the Scillies. Not bad for a pensioner! (But did you see Bill Frankland on the One Show, a 99 year-old scientist who had worked with Alexander Fleming and still works in the lab. They asked him if he would retire at 100 and he said "Perhaps, but perhaps not".)

Yesterday was a service at St Catherines Burnley in memory of those whose funerals had been held in the last month. Then we had a trip to the garden centre followed by a domestic afternoon

Today is an unknown at the moment, No plans except Claire is here for her tea for her birthday. She didn't want to go out for a meal. She wanted her dad to cook smoked duck breast. I bought Bob a smoker for his birthday a couple of years ago from Lakeland and he loves it

If anyone wants a smoker ( uses some kind of sawdust I think ) , I will shove one on freecycle in a while ( or it might appear down in Pendle Hospice Charity Shop - will let you all know when I get chance to get if shifted ( its not large but bulky enough to remember you have carried it ), never had the patience to use it.

Good Luck with the new job and well done you for getting it in the first place. Today I am going to the garden centre for some more stone to finish of my flower bed in the hope of keeping the weeds at bay whilst I am away on holiday for 3 months.
