I'm nursing a sore knee, probably twisted while gardening a couple of days ago. Have to keep my leg raised and straight to avoid bending the knee while sitting otherwise it's very painful when I get up. I'm hobbling about like Jake the Peg with his wooden leg. Also, on the ankle of the same leg, a big juicy blister about an inch in diameter due to an insect bite while in the garden. A few years ago I had similar blisters so I guess the same insects are back again. The size of the blister is probably testament to an over-active immune system! Last time I ended up having to lance the blisters with a sterilised pin then give them a coating of antiseptic cream. Might have to do it this time but I don't look forward to it!

I hope the weather isn't too bad for the wedding Sue, the forecast looks a bit dire for that part of the country. Looking forward to seeing photos of you wearing the outfit you made!

No such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing!
Butcher and shopping day today. As Brown's are closing for the September Holiday I shall get a wrap-up tonight so I don't need much this morning. I like wrap-ups, you never know what you are going to get!

The rain started seriously just as we set off from the youth hostel Stanley. We only got 7 folk, but they were all well equipped and regular walkers so no one minded the rain. I think they enjoyed their history lessons!

We are going to the last day of Beer Barbecue and Band at the pub for this year. They put on a do each Sunday in August to attract people from the campsite, it helps offset some lean times during the year. Since moving here, mother has been enjoying village life and has taken a fancy to all the young musician lads.

Brilliant wedding , however not impressed with the hotel. Beautiful building, beautiful setting, but poor organisation. Meat undercooked more like raw than rare. We all sent it back. By the time mine came back , as they forgot it, nearly everyone was finished. ( mine was one of the first returned) They came to service our room when we were getting changed and said they would come back in half an hour. Went for a rest and get changed for the evening at 6.00 and they hadn't done it. Arrived 30 minutes later than they said just as We came back to try again. Other jiggly things such as losing the booking for my brothers disabled facilities room, giving him a double bed instead of a twin losing my sisters booking and saying she had cancelled at the beginning of the month.

Good fun in the evening though. Some sort of photo will follow!

Looking very good Sue!
First day for weeks I have had no pain and feel confident with no medication.... I shall be very careful!
Never got in the shed yesterday, little household matters kept me busy until after 09:00. Everything from washing and trash-management to framing my latest honours certificate for the wall.

Thank you all, would you believe the bridesmaids were in the same pink. Unfortunately the shoulder strap of my bag broke so when we come back from France in September I shall be complaining and sending it back. The photos aren't brilliant as I hate posing. I prefer more natural shots, there were a few rare ones with my siblings. We don't get together very often in such happy circumstances. Dave looks so well after his weight loss

Looks like a punishing do! All that muck-shifting must have helped you survive.
Looking forward to the email giving me the timed delivery of my new transformer this morning. Ordered it yesterday morning and it will be here this morning. I know that there are a lot of low pay problems in the courier business and the distribution centres but you really have to admire the organisation that can produce delivery times like this. With a bit of luck, and assuming my diagnostic skills were right, the tool post grinder will be operational today! Fingers crossed!

No reaction at all Stanley, we didn't expect any. Most French aren't interested in politics unless it threatens to change their status quo

That's a shrewd and penetrating assessment Sue... Interesting. Perhaps they are impervious to spin as well.

Trying not to feel too miserable with a painful tooth abscess. I'd feel better if my cheek wasn't swollen. I started a course of antibiotics yesterday and am hoping they act quickly!

Yes they are impervious to spin. Their attitude is politicians can do what they want in their private lives provided they do what THEY THE VOTING PUBLIC WANT IN THEIR POLITICAL LIVES.
