Well I get to keep my little stumpy tip, no infection found as of yet. Getting it redressed every Friday at the GP's now so that saves a 50 mile round trip. I think my remaining bit of nail has come loose so I cant wait for it to be changed.

A friend of mine had exactly the same thing happen. She tried to remove a bird from her dogs mouth. She chose to have the nail removed and after 6 weeks the finger has healed nicely. Now she just has to get over the jokes about getting a 10% discount on a manicure!!

Home after a week in the Lakes. Warmer than usual and no snow, despite last nights forecast. It's been rather misty. Our walking was curtailed as I hurt my back. It was /is definitely muscular and I don't know what I did. We still managed short walks but sometimes with difficulty.

Try my trick of sleeping with two layers of bath towel instead of a pillow Sue.... You never know, it could have been a strange bed.....

I think it was a combination of a strange bed and sitting in the car going up there, since it started on the Su day morning. The bed does not normally affect me.

I often wonder about the small things that can trigger back pain. Touch wood but since I did away with my pillow I haven't had any back pain and the persistent problem in my neck which is connected with my old war wound in the shoulder has been much improved as well. I can't see any other reason for the improvement than the folded towel.
I had a good morning in the shed yesterday and saw progress.

There is potential for an equally good day today! Lovely.....

I introduced the two halves of the winding engine to each other yesterday and they are not arguing. A long way to go yet but it gets so much more interesting when you can see progress like this. I shall be in there again this morning......

Another deadline Sue! That's one thing about my activities, no pressure. I wish you well with the project!
I shall be in the shed as usual and looking for quite a major step forwards! Funny how you reach a stage in anything like this when you suddenly realise you are further forwards than you think. I'll bet it's the same with dressmaking and isn't it a nice feeling!

Sally had the same problem for Isla and Ruby for our Carla's wedding. Ruby in particular as she was shooting up fast. One grandchild in Silsden which was no problem but the other down in Stratford. She made them both party dresses on the same pattern to get the fitting right. She went down to get a final fitting for Ruby a couple of weeks before. Then finished both bridesmaid dresses the week before. Good luck with yours Sue, I'm sure it will turn out OK.

Today we are mainly going to Sally's Uncle Joe's 90th birthday tea up in Hawes, should be a nice run up. It was my brothers 70th birthday yesterday he had a surprise party down somewhere around Milton Keynes, we were already committed to Joe so could not attend. Our Carla and the kids went down, waiting for a report.

Great progress made today. I am very pleased so far. I have to attach the organza, skirt, net layers and lining to the bodice, then it is mainly hand sewing.

Also Claire had a dress fitting today and she could try the dress on with the cape I have made her. We were both very pleased with the effect.

When Margaret was young I bought her a very good kilt in Glasgow made in the traditional way. I asked the lady about the size and she said it didn't matter as the design was wrap round and the kilt was supported by a white cotton bodice. You got one that was far too big and adjusted the height by sewing a fold in the bodice. It fitted perfectly for years.... I'll bet some kid is still wearing that kilt today.
