That of course is part of the problem but the danger as I see it is looking for who we are to blame when we should be concentrating on how we can help.

Another part of the problem is that a lot of people are helping but the problem is still there. Where has the 'decades' of donations gone?

Fat Cat Salary earners taking 95%+ of all donations made. If a government cannot supply the basics of clean water, basic housing and immunisations to their own subjects, shame on them for not investing in their own people. Instead they choose to fund armies and weapons over clean drinking water.

I tend to keep my donations to local charities that are principally run by volunteers with a minimum of professional staff. On the guns and bullets ie: armaments, I suppose the thinking is that's its OK providing they are buying our guns and bullets.

It’s a no-win situation and I read recently that some of these organisations that can be subscribed to on a regular basis actually sue the subscriber if they attempt to cancel. (probably due to changes in their own life. )
I know I'm in my own little world, but it's OK... they know me here. :)

I posted a response to those comments, it was very good, it has disappeared into the ether.
What grabbed me as we had our second walk was a discarded Xmas tree in a back yard. That was quick!

Took my tree down yesterday. Force of habit as I used to have two birthdays straight after Christmas. Now I have one.

Ours will wait until twelfth night and then go back outside into the front garden, (minus it's current decoration of course). It's in it's own pot and only about 2ft high.

Having a fairly well developed sense of the absurd - I was attracted by this news item today.

Save the Twite

The name of the bird won't help the campaign, and the fact that its favourite food has to be imaginatively spelled to avoid causing offence is another challenge. Anyway they live in your area so do your bit, and keep an eye out for them.

I'm not sure I'd know one if I saw it! Lots of little brown birds passing through .... I'll have to educate myself better once I'm over this bl***y cold. I'll tell the shopper to stock up on nojer seeds. 🙄

No - naijer seeds. I believe they're very fussy eaters.

Perhaps they're going in disguise to fool the RSPB crowd. Although the common sparrow isn't so common now?

The question is, as the Twite's favourite food is native to Ethiopia and not East Lancs, what were they doing here in the first place??

Indeed not - It was a bit ambitious of me to try two quotes from different posts in one reply. I tried my best but something has gone badly wrong. I can only apologise for my carelessness. I'll check my posts more closely in the future.

I remember when we were clearing out premises at Marton vacated by the Estate I found a small tin plate sign that said 'Black Hamburgs' .....Puzzled me for many years pre- Google.
The rabid right wing tone of 'Today' yesterday under the guest editorship of Charles Moore. It brought back some very bad memories....
On the family side, Damaris and KK, Mo's mother and father arrived yesterday from Kenya. I can see a family gathering very shortly, they are here for ten days. I fully expect an occasional ululation! (Not a lot of it about in Earby....)
Later, news of record temperatures expected in Melbourne and serious bush fires in Victoria, particularly in the Gippsland district. (LINK)
