That's nice and positive Maz!
I had an interesting evening, got a bit rough, went to bed early and had over 8 hours sleep. I feel good this morning but will have a lazy day. I know my limitations!

Morning

I had an interesting day yesterday playing with the embroidery unit of my sewing machine and made a couple of applique pieces. Today shall attempt to use that skill to make Briony a little denim bag for her birthday. I have enough material to have a few goes to get a nice finish. I shall phone the GP again first thing as by the time I got through yesterday the only Doctor left was one I don’t like and don’t trust his judgement . I am not the only person either who thinks that.

I spent yesterday evening doing a bit of research . Jeremy Ford, the professional artist I have lessons with on occasions, and also a friend, recently bought an apartment in a grand house on the Crescent in Filey, overlooking the sea. Its an old place but in a conservation area. I offered to find out anything I could and the census returns . It was a bit like that programme, I forget its name following the history of a house. Anyway I found all of the census returns . It was completed and occupied just before the 1851 census. Only 7 others were finished at this time, they were empty but had been leased for the summer season. By the 1870s it was bought by a retired gentleman farmer, then inherited through the family. The nephew , a widower, in the 1911 later became a JP. By 1927. He lived there at least 30 years. Then it became a house full of medics, I wondered if it was consulting rooms but could not find out. By 1939 it had been split into large apartments , which is what it is is now .
We have booked a three day break in the Forest of Dean for when we should have been going to France . I see some grave yard trawling coming on, as one ancestor was from the area.

Its thick mist, with rain later. I have pilates at 10 and yoga at 6.30 pm and with a days sewing in between, thats my day.

Have a good day everyone.

Good luck with the GP Sue. We are promised a mainly clear day with occasional sun, you're not to far south and might get lucky!
No shed this morning, I am looking after myself after yesterday evening! Old age is a bugger but I'm not complaining, I have bounced back done all my remedial actions and am now going out for a walk. Then some breakfast and I'll make decisions then. :biggrin2:

The forecast has picked up, sun and cloud most of the day, showers around lunchtime. I have a telephone appointment this morning with a new GP at the surgery.

Morning

Well that was quick, telephone consultation at 9.30, appointment at 10.50am and hospital appointment made for 10 days time with a oral maxillo specialist. The GP said the lump needs looking at because it has been there 9 weeks and had not healed properly. I also phoned the dentist and explained the situation, and enquired as to whether my dentist could do an extraction. I was told she could but for medical reasons can not do the filling. Its the spray from drilling that is the health risk. So depending on what the hospital says I may decide to have the affected tooth out as I am still way down the list for the root filling, and only one dentist is doing the procedure. At least I will get a second opinion on the whole issue. I have used over a full tub of salt in salt washes five times a day, plus one and a half bottles of antibacterial mouth wash, not counting tubes of Bonjela. I am not over concerned but will be glad to get it sorted. I have a blood test next week as a preliminary before the consultation . The real positive is, it is not a hard lump but a fluid filled one that gets bigger then collapses, and now seems intimately associated with the tooth . To think it all started with toothache in France!

Yesterday was a day of sewing, despite the sun. Using my new ‘skill’I embarked on making Briony a personalised bag for her birthday in a months time. It took 3 attempts to get the flap right( silly mistakes) and its not perfect, but a few minor amendments should sort that. I still have to make the bag to make , thats the easy bit, but need something for the shoulder strap which I may be able to get at Dunelm this afternoon . The bag is made from some rather nice denim left over from a jacket and recently a skirt I made. The colours are Bs favourite ones.

Its dance exercise this morning, followed by lunch at the Shepherds Rest in Todmorden, that usually brings us to late afternoon so by the time I have been to Dunelm that will be my day.

Have a good one everyone

Looks good Sue.

Today I shall mainly be shopping for bigger sized Compeed plasters and consequent to that baking sourdough bread. I set my sponge off last night and it's festering nicely in the bowl in the kitchen.

Just equal amounts of strong flour and water. Leave for 4 or 5 days until fermenting then transfer to a Kilner jar or similar. Feed with more flour and water to keep consistency the same when activity drops off, (every few days). When you get about 300 - 400 ml, discard (or use) half then feed again, repeat to keep the culture alive. If the starter separates just stir to remix the flour and water. It should have a nice tangy smell when active. If using a Kilner Jar, release the CO2 occasionally.

I should have said, start with about 300g of flour and 300ml of tepid water.

Thanks may try it some time.

Morning

Second time of typing. I put my ipad down for a moment and it crashed wiping out everything I had written.

This morning is Bacup market, and I hope the rain hold os off long enough not to get too wet. I have few plans for the day, perhaps a little bulk cutting out of fabric I have recently bought. I can’t finish the little bag as Dunelm did not have the cord I wanted and thus it was back to ebay for my sewing supplies. . Yesterday went according to plan, it was nearly 5.00 pm when we got back from lunch and Dunelm. In the evening I spent sometime reading through my archeology course and then later had 20 minutes or so chatting to Eve on Whats App. Once again she had us laughing as she was preparing herself slices of toast and jam for her post swimming session, supper. She made an extra slice for Bob and I to share virtually ....I wonder who actually ate it😂.i mentioned I was surprised that Mum hadn’t put a padlock on the fridge yet. The reply was that there was a far more interesting cupboard with lots of goodies in that she hoped she wouldn't padlock! I was shown around this cupboard. School is still GOOD , such praise from an 11 year old. I shall chat to B this evening.

This evening is also U3A wine appreciation zoom meeting, always informative and always fun. The rest of the day I shall wait and see what crops up

Have a good, if damp day, all

As usual I am having a breather after two hours in the shed, then a short walk in the rain :biggrin2: Breakfast and post on a disaster ridden morning in the shed. Bob will laugh before commiserating, we have all been there!

We popped the bikes on the new bike rack today and headed down the coast, finding a great spot where we could unload the bikes and ride for miles on designated bike trails alongside the ocean ( most was sealed but there were unsealed options to take, which we did). Exhilarating! We had a fabulous time.
If tomorrow is nice, we may go to a different spot. Lots of options now we have the bike rack for the car.
( I still have to concentrate very hard on my right foot, as it slips on the pedal. Hard work. I can’t rely on it being where I expect it to be. I can’t strap it to the pedal because that is not a safe option if I take a tumble or have to come to a screeching halt. But if this is as good as it is ever going to get - I was a happy bunny today!). We had a good ride and a lot of fun.

Maz, Have a look at toe clips as used by serious racers. If used with a smooth sole shoe they don;t lock your foot to the pedal and could be a good locator for your foot.
Looking forward to shed when I shall rectify yesterday's miniature disaster!
I scrubbed the third walk yesterday, first one I have missed post Jack. I got my exercise with an hour of domestic activities! No bad conscience at all, it was raining heavily.

Morning

Well that was a wet day! I did the ironing and washed , dried and ironed my fabric ready for cutting out, and did a couple of hours on my archaeology course. I am struggling a bit with the language so spent some time doing some research on the internet looking for alternative definitions and ways of describing things. In the end I submitted the first assessment and nearly finished the second. I also put away my summer clothes in the loft, including the ones that should have gone back to France next week, and sorted out the suitcase of winter jumpers and socks. I now at least will have something warmer to wear. I spoke to Briony for sometime on whats app. Its lively to see her smile again and non stop chatter. The old B is returning! A productive day all round .

I gather today will still be damp but drier than yesterday. I have a couple of cyclamen to plant that I bought yesterday on the market and may get that done. Its yoga at 10.30 am. Then it will be the cutting out and possible sewing I did not do yesterday .

Have a good day all

Morning Sue, you're regular as clockwork. :biggrin2: As I noted elsewhere, I scrubbed my third walk yesterday, I got my exercise by doing an hour's housework. I didn't see any point going out in the pouring rain, I got my fresh air stood on the doorstep.
I've had a good hour and a half in the shed and sorted out yesterday's mistake and moved further into the next parts. I'll report later after a walk and while I eat my breakfast.

I don’t feel it safe to have any form of clip ( they are for healthy, responsive feet)
What I do think will help, is a shoe with a heel, as opposed to a flat soled shoe where my brain constantly has to work out what part of my foot is on the pedal. It is something I have to process every 30 seconds or so. It is really hard mental work. But the ridge of having an actual heel on the shoe, may make it easier for the brain. I will try it.
I do so enjoy riding.

We wake more or less at7.00 most mornings. Bob makes a brew whilst I sort the ipads and crack on with my daily blog. I do three, mainly slightly different versions of the same one. This usually triggers an online conversation with the girls, ( one in Coventry and one in Preston) for 20 minutes or so when we share extra news and titbits. Then its up, shower and ready for the day. We usually have breakfast about 8.30 to 8.45.

Morning

Well yesterday turned out very nice. After my yoga session I decided to do some more garden tidying and plant the bulbs that I have had sitting in a box for nearly three weeks, nearly 200 in total. That took some doing and in some cases I had to clear the ground first. It was 3.30 pm by the time I had finished, and I was nicely dozing in the chair in the conservatory when Bob came in from his session down at the railway track in the park.

After a drink and a chat I did an hours research on my archaeology course and completed the second assessment. Its still mainly definitions about the different types of archaeology and the terminology used, so many of the questions are multiple choice. I found one question that had a glaring error. I think the question should have asked about culture, but a typo had the word creature which made nonsense of the question. I answered as I thought it should be and then explained my reasoning at the end of the discussion question .

It was my turn to cook in the evening, and we had roast lamb with a large plateful of the last of my runner beans and the last of my potatoes. Needless to say there was no cutting out done yesterday, perhaps today after pilates. If it remains dry we may go for a walk this afternoon.

Have a good day

I have had two hours in the shed and have solved my current problems. I shall post later after another short walk and breakfast.

We had a heavy sea mist this morning. Nothing odd about that, so we went for our usual walk quite unprepared for the downpour we got. Had to deploy the hairdryer when we got home, and change our clothing....
