Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
My first thought was that it's the alien being which has hypnotised us all to think it's a human President of the USA and has now been revealed in this photo which sees through the disguise.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
Sorry no. I know it's an almost impossible one. Think extreme deep ocean life. I shan't let it linger much longer.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
A parasitic worm or leech - is it one of the lung worms that attack porpoises that I mentioned elsewhere? (And which I should have thought about earlier!)

No, sorry, one last stab at guidance, think of the most extreme deep water environment in our oceans.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
This water-dwelling one is more likely to be encountered
The schistosome parasite—lives in certain types of freshwater snails. It emerges into the water, where it can live for up to 48 hours. The parasite can penetrate the skin of people (and presumably some animals )who come into contact with contaminated water. After several weeks, the parasites mature into adult worms, which live and produce eggs in blood vessels.
Most people with schistosomiasis show no early signs, but "may develop a rash or itchy skin. Fever, chills, cough, and muscle aches can begin within 1-2 months of infection," according to the centre for diesease control (USA)
Eggs that are produced usually travel to the intestine, liver or bladder, causing inflammation or scarring. Children who are repeatedly infected can develop anemia, malnutrition, and learning difficulties. After years of infection, the parasite can also damage the liver, intestine, lungs, and bladder. Rarely, eggs are found in the brain or spinal cord and can cause seizures, paralysis, or spinal cord inflammation.

Re: MYSTERY OBJECTS
No sweat Pluggy, that was probably the only way it could be solved, I tripped over it by chance. It was of course a hydrothermal worm that lives in the hot water around volcanic vents in the deep ocean.
