Another trip to Rennes today. Bob needs some more tile cement and I think I will visit the fabric shop again. My dress is finished so I am going to do another as it was such a good fit. It was a very complex pattern but worth the effort. Dresses you say, why yes, I have decided it is going to be a glorious summer, cropped trousers and jeans are out, dresses are in :laugh5:

Nowt like a bit of optimism! I wrote an article yesterday and the sequel is bubbling up in my head so I'll do another one today. No day is wasted when 1000 words has been written!

Cleaning the polytunnel. I got round half the inside wall yesterday, and hope to finish it today. There is quite a bit of green mould on the polythene both inside & out.
I might think about putting a few early potatoes in there, and perhaps a few broad beans to start the year off.
We have some lambs in our field, so it must be spring!

Yes I am thanks Wendy, though not clear of the cough and catarrh which has settled in my ears. I am sleeping like a log helped by darker mornings here because of the hour difference. We bought seed potatoes and they will go in before we return to the UK. I planted broad beans in November but nothing has come up. It's a variety that you plant early and it produces beans before the black fly appear.

We have just finished our last pumpkin or to be strictly correct I chopped it up and froze it ready for roasting or chips. They make good chips. We still have chard and flat leaf parsley in the garden here.

Glad you're improving Sue, these things can hang on so long! Garlic is a good thing for catarrh.

Perhaps a bit of weeding of the flower borders today, or should I say this afternoon. I shall also finish dress number 2.
Bob has just about finished tiling the shower room and half built a short bit of staircase leading into the grainier( old grain store) which he is converting into a studio for me.

Thank you Wendy.

We went out for lunch today and on our return Bob carried on with the tiling and I finished the gardening I wanted to do before our return. Potatoes planted, strawberry plants renewed, spring onions planted, asparagus heaped up, herb patch and flower beds weeded, all lawns cut and trimmed. Ah a sigh of satisfaction. Rain due tomorrow and for the rest of our stay.

Our friends funeral is on Tuesday but we will already be back in England. A sad day.

Sorry Sue, that was the one I was thinking about.
I once went to a funeral on a very cold day at a tiny chapel on the moors above Blackburn, I swear it was colder in the chapel than outside at the grave. The interment was in a small family vault and two undertakers had to manhandle the coffin in through a very narrow opening. After they disappeared inside the service proceeded and after a few moments wisps of cigarette smoke started to drift out of the low doorway. The men were obviously sitting on my mate's coffin and having a drag! I thought of the old cigar advertisement..... I don't think George would have been upset.

Visiting Mum. Its her 92nd birthday on Mothers Day tomorrow, but she wants me to go over today and take her shopping as usual. My brother will be going tomorrow, so she wont be on her own. She likes to keep her visitors separate!

Yes, my Dad didn't like it if we all turned up together, apart from spreading our hs visitors he also felt overcrowded.

Glorious day here in Brittany after a very misty cool start. Did some last minute shopping au Yves Rocher, and some pruning of a rather giant shrub and now may go and sit outside with a book.

I can understand that. Apart from the confusion that can arise with multiple visitors it's nice to be able to give full attention to one at a time.
Today is keeping warm and making sure my feet are fit to present to the foot clinic tomorrow....

Trying to keep warm. The farrier is coming this afternoon to trim the ponies feet. Lots of standing around getting frozen. If they were still being shod there would be a nice warm forge in the back of his van...

And it's colder still today Wendy! Wrap up warm. Having spent most of my life working outside I always remember the people who have to endure the weather on days like this. Lots to be said for retirement!
