Yes I assumed Celsius. I was comparing it to today's 40C+ in a mildly ironic way.

I've found a local garage and am booked in for midday today. They potentially have an injector in stock if required. We've also made the decision to stay until Wednesday, it'll be considerably cooler by then.

Irony not missed here David, the pedant in me made me reply. :extrawink: :laugh5:

Today I shall mainly be about to shut all the windows as my next job.

Good news under the circumstances Kev but you could still do without it!

Certainly is a nuisance, the annoying thing is it came completely out of the blue. I would have at least expected to have had the odd misfire at some time if the injector was deteriorating which would have prompted plugging it in for a diagnosis.

Limped the car to the garage for midday, they were getting on it straight after lunch. It was a bit warm out

We have now retreated to the Bluewater shopping centre to take advantage of the air conditioning and sat in Bella Italia nibbling lunch.

Just had an update, the Yeti will be fettled and ready for collection at 5:15, very pleased with that.

I have booked two extra nights and will drive home on Wednesday. I have a flexible employer so will do half a shift on Wednesday afternoon and the other half of it next Thursday.

I was struggling to find anywhere to do the work, the physical replacement of the injector is a straightforward 'spanner' job, it's programming the new injector into the ECU that's created a problem. It's specialist software for that. Luckily there was a little independent garage, just around the corner from the hotel, that had all the kit.

Not sure I agree. I have a single rotating dial whch simply sets the internal temperature to whatever I choose - cold or warm.

No ongoing subscription payment required - or for the heated seats - so there BMW.

There was a time when I'd have said "just something else to go wrong" - but that was before Japanese cars got so good.

I've collected the Yeti, £360 for the part and £50 labour. Excellent service (shame about the cost of a new injector).
This evening I am going to the pub opposite the hotel and drinking cold beer for tea.

Similar with the Yeti but with 'dual' control which seems a little strange as it's all the same cabin :biggrin2:

Glad you're sorted Kev but all this computer control is of course completely alien to me. The only computer I ever had was in my own head. Injectors were incredibly reliable, well over 100,000 miles out of them before they complained and when they did it wasn't with misfires but excess smoke. In all the miles I did I can't ever remember an injector failing.
Today I shan't even think about going in the shed, it's over 80F in there already. I'm washing duvet covers and that will be my most significant 'work' today. (I am expecting Aussie Rules drying outside on the line....) As for the rest of the day, I shall take it as it comes...
04:15. Just hung the bedding out. That sky looks angry to me and I could have sworn I felt a spit of rain but probably wishful thinking.

Morning

Its 26 inside and 23 outside this morning, but we both managed a good nights sleep with the aid of a small fan whirring all night. Yesterday was warm, of course, and we did the minimum. We took my car to the garage in the morning and with the aid of a long letter tgat I wrote the night before they were able to reproduce the fault. Its not so much a fault as an inadequate instruction manual!! The car starts with a start button that you press down. Apparently we have not been pressing it long enough and the gears then did not engage properly. The technician was able to work out how to reverse the the issue when it occurs , without the car going into freewheel, in my case freewheeling off the drive into the road with a bus coming towards me ! He said he had not come across the problem before, but next time he did he would know the solution. He said he had learned a lot and we were grateful for his efforts.

On the way home we experienced very heavy thundery drops of rain, but it came to nothing, certainly not enough to wet the soil. So on our return I switched the hose pipe on to a dribble and left it on the garden near strategic plants moving it round periodically . Later I thoroughly watered all my pots and filled the water butt so our neighbour will be able to water ( and eat ) the beans easily. Whilst this inactive hose watering was going on, I sat in the lounge with the curtains shut, drinking ginger beer and reading😊. This morning the plants look livelier

Today Bob is at the park doing boiler testing. He thinks he will be there a few hours so I shall make him a packed lunch. Thank goodness that corner of the park is cool, but he will come home if it gets too hot. I have to go and buy some new hand towels for France, which I had forgotten about but have little else to do. The packing and sorting out for France are finished but we won’t load the car till the morning. Thankfully tomorrow promises to be much cooler, back to normal temperatures with rain forecast in Portsmouth . I shall probably do some reading today and may cut out and start sewing a top for the autumn. I don’t want to make too much of a mess though as I have already tidied my sewing room, however it is a room with a ceiling fan so its tempting to be in it.

Have a good day all, stay cool, drink plenty

I have had 3 hours of second sleep and fitted the new duvet covers, my least favourite job! I shall have a pot of tea and then a walk and a sit in the square. No guilt at all about ditching the shed and nobody to take me to task! :biggrin2:

We ditched our duvet about 6 weeks ago in favour of the hex quilt and a cotton sheet. We took the quilt off at the weekend and just have the cotton sheet now. I always sleep au naturel and I dispensed with the sheet as well last night. It will probably be the same tonight.

My summer du ets are very light indeed, which is what we use in France. Otherwise we have the same medium weight duvet all year round, adding a quilted bedspread in the winter. As Bob has Raynauds syndrome he feels the cold and is always wrapped in the bedding whatever the weather. I just sleep on top of the duvet. Last night I actually got chilly half way through the night.. the portable fan on the dressing table kept us nice and cool and it was quieter than the ceiling fan

I just sleep without the duvet if it's hot but last night I was under the duvet and slept like a log.
Still over 80F in the shed so I shall decline any work in there again today. I shall let the rest of the dasy take care of itself. Walk and bookie watch looks certain....

Morning

It was a warm night and this morning it is 26 degrees inside the house and 18 outside. It should be a lot cooler today, much better for driving to Portsmouth for the ferry leaving sometime after breakfast. I gave my plants a really good water and fed all the roses last night but even with my neighbours help over the summer I think I may lose some.

I pottered yesterday, staying mainly indoors. I gave my sewing room a good ‘do’ moving out the furniture as it gets really dusty in there. Then I cleaned out the laundry cupboard and gardening cupboards in the conservatory, getting rid of old and no longer used tubs of things. I had a spray of rewaxer for Bob’s old wax jacket that he wore in the park that was spraying green, not nice. It was old but was nearly full. A lot of water was consumed during all of this activity
.
So thats it, off to France for the summer and expecting a constant stream of visitors. Just about everyone who we have randomly invited have all decided to come this year, and at more or less the same time. At one point we will have 6 guests plus a workman and his caravan on the drive. He is coming for 5 days to cut down 4 dead 350 year old oak trees, before the next storm takes them down on to the road. We are also still trying to get the roof repaired before next Winter. Its going to be a busy summer, but good fun with so many friends and relatives around.

Have a good day all
