No Gloria. Think of what is essential for the safe running of a steam boiler....

I'll throw my two penny worth in . It looks like a two part pump. Where the top 'low pressure is converted to a reciprocating high pressure (bottom) and then into a high pressure vessel. At first my thoughts were steam boiler top ups but since you mentioned transport I'll go for a steam tractor. Steam railway engine use a venturi effect I think. Total guess but its an excuse to sit down and do nowt.

You are all skirting round it. Think of feed water for the boiler...... How do you put it in if you haven't got a mechanical pump.....

Sorry Gloria but no.
I shall knock this on the head if we don't come up with the answer. How do you put feed water in a boiler if you haven't got a mechanical pump?

Hand operated pump?

Sorry but no. The object is a Buffalo Injector, a way of putting water into a boiler under pressure using the power of the steam itself directly to force the water in. (

Well I haven’t and I don’t know what it is. I can hazard a guess at a memorial for the navvies at the Ribblehead viaduct.
