This statistic was originally put out by Bret Swanson, writing in Tech Policy Daily in February, 2014. He used a back-of-the-envelope calculation based on 1991 prices for memory, computing power, and bandwidth.

It's not precise, but it's safe to say that a lot of us are carrying, in our pocket, a computer that would have been unspeakably costly in 1991.

But how do you flush it?

Similar to some public conveniences in France, the foot holds aren't specifically for the guys, they are there for either gender when crouching. Lose the cone and seat and you get the standard French version, rural ones are invariably unisex loo's as well.

I've never understood why we have to have segregated loos. Why can't they be unisex?

I am all for designated seperate loos in public places...because men don't aim properly! Especially after a few drinks!
Airline toilets are a classic example...the floors get pretty disgusting toward the end of a long flight.

The French versions cater for that Maz, the ceramic base is all there is in each receptacle and the flush floods and rinses the entire cubicle. There are some futuristic stainless steel automatic jobs in some of the cities that do a similar thing when you exit.

One of the funny quotes read out on the News Quiz was a sign in the toilet of one of those places promoting renewable energy. Something like: "This toilet is `environment-friendly' and uses no fossil fuel energy. It is powered solely by wind."

I had a frightening experience in one of those futuristic models. apparently I hadn't locked the door properly and it threatened to hose me out, then it commenced a countdown.
Quickest wee I've ever done, then I flew out the door, still adjusting clothing.

The world's richest 1% will own more than the rest put together by 2016, a new Oxfam report has warned.

Ahead of the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, Switzerland, the international organisation says their combined wealth will overtake that of the other 99% next year unless rising inequality is checked.

Oxfam warned that the 'explosion in inequality' is holding back the fight against global poverty at a time when one in nine people do not have enough to eat and more than a billion people still live on less than $1.25 (83p) a day.

Probably a nice thought, China, but I always think a well tended little pot of hate doesn't take up too much room on the dresser.

Tend to agree with China's philosophy; hate can become all consuming.

I don't think I hate anybody. There are a few who I tolerate but that's about as far as it goes.

Coriander Maz, how can you ever enjoy a Lamb Kelftiko without Coriander? One of the better peasant dishes.

As a general rule I only eat Fish or Chicken always served with huge quantities of Salad or Veg, and occasionally Beef ( but only because I know hubby needs red meat occasionally). Eat more Fish than anything else.
I like to spice my food with Lemon Juice, Lime Juice, Chilli, Chives and Black Pepper.
To me, Coriander tastes like SOAP.
Garlic just overpowers everything to the point you can't taste what the original food was. ( and the stink is just disgusting).

Sorry, it only applies to people. It's OK to dislike things.

I'm going away for 2 or 3 days and will be out of touch so if anyone has a daily thought please feel free to post it. I didn't mean this thread to be limited to my thoughts alone.

Thanks Maz. Just a quick trip with a friend to visit my other apartment and have a relaxing couple of days in the countryside. I'm back in Nanning city now.
