Thanks Russ.

Your contributions are much appreciated. From the suggestions received so far and from those I have been able to conjure up, I have selected enough to get past the half-way stage of the 67 required to complete the 300 for 60 puzzles.

The dénouement (saw the word in viewtopic.php?f=59&t=13228&start=3200#p117607) is completing, on average, about two puzzles per day with anywhere between five and eight clues per puzzle.

The puzzles are Logic Grid Puzzles, based on the theme Horse Racing Careers.

The storyline is during their horse racing careers, each of 5 jockey friends - Sammy Bass, Charlie Browne, Mickey Dunne, Tommy Greene and Bryan Smart - kept a record of his achievements, i.e. the name of the horse which he rode, the weight which the horse carried, the race distance and the position in which he finished.

Each jockey's horse carried a different weight in a different race distance and finished in a different position - from first to fifth.

The jockeys did not necessarily race against each other, nor on the same day.

The jockey, horse, weight, distance and finishing position are randomly matched by the system used to compile the puzzles. That’s the easy part. Writing the clues to fit the solution is a bit harder.
