Many people leave lights on all the time now that it's not costing them much. That's a danger of making energy cheaper, people just use more!

Npower's biannual direct debit review saw a decrease in my monthly payments, a quick conversation in their chat facility soon had them back where they should be.
Be interesting to see if EON Next's software makes a better job of it in 6 months time.

I notice some of those cars which unlock via your smartphone also allow you to remotely peep your car's horn from the phone, to help you find the car in a car park. Better not let the kids get hold of the phone!

There are a lot of apps available that will connect to a car's ECU, there's a fair sized list of things you can operate remotely from locking the doors to starting the engine, turning on the radio, aircon, opening the windows. Not sure why you'd need to do a lot of those things remotely though...

Their email predicts a smooth transition over the next few weeks, I certainly hope so as Eon Next are one of the suppliers whose smart meter software I support...

`If Npower reviews are to be believed, the news that their provider is in the process of being taken over will have come as a pleasant surprise to many customers. The consumer review site Trustpilot offers a sorry account of the low level of satisfaction with Npower customer service - out of over 2,500 reviewers, 93% gave the provider the worst rating of 1 star.' The Switch

I hope for the sake of E.ON's customers they don't transfer the Npower person who thought it was OK to define a year as 10 months in the terms & conditions!

How come in the dark it is so easy to find the upturned 13amp plug off the radio (using ones foot) that one disconnected the previous night whilst taking a walk to the light switch

Feet and toes are marvelous bit of anatomy for locating things especially when you're not looking for them, bed ends, table legs, shallow steps. pins, toys almost anything at set at low level, but it takes a special kind of genius not to find a switch in full light that you have just spent frustrating minutes looking for only a short time ago. :geek:
PS. Hope you're foot soon recovers from its little adventure. :biggrin2:

I remember once, many years ago when I was young and had gone to bed with drink taken I woke up and wanted a pee. It was pitch dark so I was extremely careful getting out of bed and navigating to the bedroom door. Problem was I couldn't find the handle so I approached the problem logically feeling every inch of the surface but with no luck, I couldn't find it. As I stood there having a ponder a small voice came from Vera in bed. "What are you doing Stanley?" I told her and she said "You won't find it there, that's the end of the wardrobe. Try to your right". :biggrin2:

A friend told me how she heard her husband get up during the night but didn't hear him come back to bed. Eventually she got up to look for him and found he was standing by the bed - and fast asleep!

The Npower app now has a redirect to Eon Next. My gas account has partially transferred but no electricity account yet. Should all be done by January 5th. I will be keeping a close eye on the software :biggrin2:

Our FIT payments for the solar panels have been with Npower and are now being changed to Eon. Never had a problem so far.

Everything is doing what it should be doing so all should be good. It's interesting to be able to follow the Npower loss and the Eon Next gain in the software.

December's combined energy bill has come in, £127, the cold weather is showing it's teeth but I don't begrudge a halfpenny of it. We are so lucky to have this resource and shouldn't forget it!

My Npower gas account has successfully transferred to Eon Next, no sign of the electric account yet though. It'll be in there somewhere with the millions of accounts that are moving over.
Installing some lagging on the heating pipes that are under the floor today. Moving the plug socket, in preparation for the French doors, highlighted condensation on the pipes. Not a major issue but a waste of energy that can easily be rectified especially as the lagging is only 72p a metre.

The bad news is that lithium extraction by evaporation of groundwater has an adverse impact on the environment but the good news is that a more benign process is being developed. Even better would be to develop batteries that use materials that are more easily and safely accessible.
