Barlick cyclists in about 1900? I think the man in the centre is Leonard Holdsworth a director of the Calf Hall Shed Company.

Good picture Stanley, you can tell the architect and the secretary, they both look a little bit more "official" if that's the right word. You can also tell these men came from an age when your footwear mattered. Just look at the shine on the boots and shoes. Movers and shakers of their day.

These men were part of 'The Forty Thieves' of Barlick fame. I asked Harold about the term and he told me that while he didn't like the term there was a loose organisation that gave rise to the term. They were the town bosses and controlled much of what happened, including the Council.

Billy Brooks in 1978 when I interviewed him for the LTP. He was almost 100 years old but as sharp as a needle.

Good! Look after it, not many left. Do you remember how the interior was always covered with a thin layer of soap? They always felt greasy. Then of course there was the Posser!
