The hens also expect a share of Col's crisps if we are sat outside, he rattles his crisp packet and is encircled by dogs, cats and hens. The hens don't sit and wait patiently dribbling like the others, they jump up and grab what they can attacking from all directions.....sometimes I'll head out into the sun with a coffee and a biscuit only to be roughly assaulted by a gang of chickens who then flap away fighting over my hard earned snack. I blame Colin.

The animal kingdom is really wonderful isn't it. Wether it's a horse in a paddock or a bird in a cage or a homely cat or dog, they all have their own personalities, likes, dislikes and comforts etc.
When my cat asks me for something and I'm not quite sure what she's asked for, I go through a list in my head and mentally tick things off, just like having a baby or toddler. Lol.
Sometimes we even get up to do things at the same time e.g. she goes to her feed bowl and I go to the kitchen, or she goes to her litter and I go to the loo. In some things we have become synchronized

This is my cat, Lady

Is this a better one. It's hard to capture the right angle to get the eyes right. She was eying off my dinner in the first pic.

Yeah, that's a better one.
Now she looks like she is waiting for you to explain WHY you did not share your dinner. Are we slightly peeved, Lady?

Cats are funny aren't they. We have a black and white cat that lives on the back street. Officially it belongs to Ian Capstick across the street but in fact it is the dictator of East Hill Street and the surrounding area. This is the lodger cat that shelters in the box under the bench if the weather is bad, otherwise it is on patrol all the time. It goes back to Ian for food but often stays out all night. Yesterday morning it came across Jack at about 4AM when they almost ran into each other on a corner and Jack sheered off immediately! He knows better than to mess with it! I think it's meading as near a natural life as it could do without being feral.

I do wish other people's cats wouldn't leave a smell around our front door...quite overpowering on damp days (Tom Cats).

I love the colours in that room Wendy and I'll bet Col built those bookshelves, tidy!
That's what sofas are for actually.... I knew a bloke in Rochdale who got an English Bull Mastiff pup. It was so big at eight weeks old he had to buy a two seater sofa for a dog bed.... God alone knows what it graduated to as it grew.

As I've said many times, dogs love set routines and times. Last night I unwittingly broke the rules by going to the wrong door for Jack's late evening pee at 21:00. When I called him back in he growled at me in a way that would frighten anyone who didn't know him. I had broken his rules! As soon as we went to the right door and followed the routine he was right as rain! Funny things dogs......

Ha Liz, I'm not that daft. I get that cosy corner on the comfy settee and put my feet up on Bruce.....he's very accommodating. Col gets to fight for space with Bertie, and that can turn quite unpleasant!
Stanley, Col may not have made the bookcases but you should see the staircase he built and the doors that are being made at the moment for the kitchen....

I quite like a bit of country clutter, it's a very honest and homely look.

Jack starts the night on the sofa in the front room but then moves later to lie next to my head in bed. If I wake he pops under the duvet for a while but then finishes up laid on top of the duvet. He's a good bed companion, always warm and doesn't fidget.....

When Jack has had his tea at 15:15 he gets his ball and knows he has it until 18:00. I have to ration him because he's a little tyrant with it. If he sees I am doing nothing he issues commands. I had stopped reading to light me pipe yesterday afternoon and sure enough, here he is attempting to control me. I love being able to understand what he is saying, this was a very clear message! [It didn't work, I started reading again and he retired to the office chair to wait for the next chance....]

Today I shall be refurbishing the cat shelter under the bench in the back yard. It will have to be smaller after my re-arrangement of the storage but I thing that Top Cat will approve. She was sat in the rain yesterday looking miserable.
By the way, because my eyes have been returned to full capability I noticed yesterday that she isn't black and white, her fur is a very dark brown.....
