Light pollution is covered by the 1990 Environmental Protection Act and local councils can take action against those in breach of it. There are a lot of people who don't realise they can't just put up a 500 watt light in their back yard.

Things over here have improved enormously. Chase the turd is the name of the game for all dog walkers. The dog handler must have an empty turd bag at hand even though they have just picked up one load. A walk through the park is becoming a pleasure.
Can't do much about cats though. Our garden is the local repository for all the neighbourhood cats or so it seems.

Maybe a 500 w security light might stop other people’s cats peeing on our front door mat every night... I get sick of the stink of cat wee, when we don’t own a cat.

If you are ordering online and suddenly realise that you have ordered a small item from China, fear not. I have just ordered 10 carbide inserts for a lathe tool from Banggood. They cost £7.64 including postage and packing and were posted off the day after the order. They will get here faster than some UK retailers. This is only a small item but the same applies to larger parcels.

Extending a pan of cooked veggies with a kilo of frozen peas is the equivalent of two more meals from the pan for only £1. That's cheap nutritious food!

A kilo of peas sounds a bit risky to me.

Being an adventurous sort with grub - I tried some Black Turtle Beans recently.

Bit of a faff soaking and boiling - but I persisted. Quite enjoyed them added to a stir fry, but the after effects may prevent me from doing so again. They'll look good in a display jar though.

Don't buy a washing up brush with black bristles. In my experience they will not stand high temperatures and crumple as soon as they are used. I have just thrown my new brush away and gone back to the old one until I can find a suitable replacement.

Don't sand dry well-seasoned wood indoors! Big mistake. The fine dust is incredibly hard to eliminate.

Washing up brushes. Yellow, blue or white bristles appear to resist weakening in boiling water but beware the black bristles, they simply crumple!
Yes, it's been a bit of an obsession this last few days. A good sink brush is essential! I have another replacement ready but the old one is performing quite well still......

If you're working with cutting edges you can't resharpen too often. Watch a good butcher with his knife and steel.
