I commented to a neighbour when I was putting the bin out this morning that it was a little milder with the snow. Of course she replied that she would rather have it colder as long as it was dry.

Middle offspring has his girlfriend visiting from Australia, she's never experienced snow and is quite excited. :biggrin2:

Our new moggie hasn't either, she jumped into the yard and then took refuge under a stool where there was no snow. :laugh5:

Yesterday we had a very light covering of snow but by 20:00 most of that had gone and we had light rain. This morning it's not raining, we have had a sleet shower during the night but this morning it's breezy and the sky is mainly clear. The glass fell all day yesterday and this morning is on 991mb. There is a yellow warning for snow but actually the forecast is for a dry sunny day but freezing all day. The wind will be a light NW all day giving us a high of 1C and a low of -7C tonight. Actually that 1C is for now, the rest of the day is going to be about -6C as despite being light that Arctic wind is very cold. We shall have another very cold day tomorrow but then it starts warming up and by Tuesday next week we are promised 10C!

We had a lot more snow last night, it was heavy for a couple of hours. Its too dark to see out at the moment but there are no car headlights on the road although a snow plough has just gone slowly by.

We’ve had no snow during the night, but a heavy frost. Most of the snow from yesterday has melted and it’s lovely and bright at the moment.

It was still snowing when I went to bed, lots of reports of icy roads this morning. The A56 is very slow moving through Foulridge and Facebook reports it's stationary at Kelbrook.

I wasn't the only one to not go into the office today, only three people went in as they live within walking distance.
Latest says it's taking 45 minutes to get from Kelbrook to Foulridge, definitely a good idea to go nowhere :good:

Yesterday afternoon was bright and sunny for the most part but bitterly cold. I went nowhere either! I was ready for bed at 19:00 and the sky was clear. This morning it's the same, calm, a clear sky and a hard frost at -9C. The glass has risen a bit and is on 996mb and rising. We have a one word Met forecast and that is 'clear'. The mainly NW wind will be light and gives us a high of 0C and a low of -3C tonight with -4C wind chill. At the moment we are enjoying -9C with the wind chill..... The outlook is more cheerful, tomorrow we are promised 3C and by Sunday we shall be in the tropical heat of double figures. Trouble is that from Monday onwards we can expect rain. Nobody could ever say this weather was boring....

Yesterday stayed dry and clear but very cold. At 19:00 when I went to bed it was calm cold and clear. It stayed like that all night and is the same this morning. The glass has risen to 1013mb. The Met Office forecast is for heavy snow to start around 06:00 and last until midday when it will clear and be a dry afternoon and evening. The constant WSW wind will be moderate all day and gusts to 30mph at times. It gives us a high of 3C today and 2C tonight. This relatively warm temperature coming in to us at midday but being spoiled somewhat by a -5C wind chill which will make it feel like freezing. The temperature is going to keep on rising and will be in double figures by Tuesday but with accompanying rain.

More snow? We still have 6 to 8 inches on the ground from Tuesday evening! I've just been back to look at the forecast and there is a just a chance of light snow at 11am. You had me worried there....

No snow here either Wendy. I tried to go to the Co-op for some milk but never got beyond the end of Co-operative Street where I went down and couldn't get up. Two good Samaritans rescued me and got me back home and one gave me a pint of milk. I shall not go out again today.

We’ve had light snow overnight, and the sky is full of something.
Just bobbed out with some bird seed and it’s trying to rain.

I was silly to go out Wendy and there is a providence looks after drunken men and fools. I went down in slow motion and as far as I can tell haven't hurt anything. Vicky Barritt is bringing my milk in tonight on her way home from work. Would you believe she was alerted by Margaret 9,000 miles away in Perth? :biggrin2: :good:

The snow that was in the forecast was a short period of rain and sleet. It has stopped now and the ice is thawing very quickly indeed.

Yesterday afternoon was the start of the thaw and by 20:00 much of the ice had already gone and we had a calm evening with light overcast. This morning we have more of a breeze but it is dry and much milder, the CH is off and the ice has vanished. The glass is up slightly on 1014mb but has started falling slowly. The forecast is for a wet and windy day. The constant SW wind will be brisk and gust to 35mph at times during the day and more than 45mph as it strengthens tonight. We will have a high of 5C and a low of 3C tonight with up to -5C wind chill in the strong wind. Much warmer again tomorrow and more rain, that's the pattern for the next six days.
Later at 04:00 we had a sharp shower of rain, big drops, almost like thunder rain.
