A warning today on You and Yours (R4) for parents considering 'smart' toys as presents for children to beware, the toy could be used to communicate with your child unknown to you or to listen in and be a spy in effect. Ho ho ho....
I mailed David W about the leaning Xmas tree and he's on the case.
Cathy, I like to test you a bit at times!

The leaning tree in Town Square is straight and lit but missing its top, it must be away for repair.

I believe the authorities are checking CCTV for the culprit.

Not a lot of festive cheer about this morning but as it's only ten days to Xmas Day we can expect the annual frenzy to start building this week.
I'm assuming that Friday night will be the start of many people's holiday season. That means booze and in addition, office parties. If these activities attract you, be careful, many Xmasses are spoiled before the day because of booze. Don't become one of the victims!

I can tell it's getting near Christmas. I ordered some craft items online from Hobbycraft on Friday afternoon by free standard delivery. They arrived on Sunday evening!

I ordered some taps and other small engineering supplies and I suspect they will be as fast.
People walking about in public wearing Santa Hats! Have they no shame!

And even scaffolders too! Mrs Tiz found this article (lots of photos!)....
`Scaffolding Santas help repair Wellington Monument' LINK
The monument is made of local calcareous greensand, a sandstone in which the quartz grains are cemented together by calcite rather than silica. It's also used in local churches.

I dont normally do santa hats, (they are quite warm though), but decided this year to give them a go and be a bit more happy to folk , the daylight hours are too short, and by the time I get half the work done I am back to avoiding showers and using the electric in an attempt to see.

I've had a first time experience. A man wearing a Santa hat with a built-in beard!

We still haven’t seen a Coca-Cola Christmas ad. I’ve checked the Net and don’t seem to be getting one. Boo hoo, not fair :(

It's out there Cathy, I have seen it once.
The new top has been placed on the eastern large emitter in the Town Square and is fully functional.

Now the middle section of the eastern emitter has failed.....

I see that discounts are already being offered on the High Street as the last days of the frenzy are being fought over by the retailers. From the state of the general economy I fear there might be a blood bath when the figures are totted up after Xmas. Ho ho ho......

Most of the lights are lit on the Commercial block in Church Street. Stephenson House has its red Xmas tree shining forth bravely. Coincidence?

We watched a TV programme about the Christmas Markets in Vienna. They looked wonderful, thousands of people enjoying themselves, Christmas decorations everywhere, a great variety of foods for sale, no signs of trouble, even though there were alcoholic drinks, games being played - I liked the one that mimicked bowling but using something with a flat teflon surface and a handle.

Christmas present for grandchild no6 arrived this morning, I only ordered it at 9pm last night :-)

Exactly my thought yesterday when I bought veggies Kev. Jack and I will not starve because the shops are closed for two days!
Mind you, I have to confess Kath will be delivering a wrap up tomorrow afternoon when the butcher's closes for the holiday. (But that's on economic grounds, always cheap meat!)
