I only part boil the sprouts before they go in the stew David, they keep a bit of a crunch in the stalks. I had the mutton stew for dinner and tea with nuts and an apple for afters.

As if you dare!
I extended the mutton stew with a can of mushy peas so that I had two small bowls for dinner and tea. Nuts and an apple for afters. Today is butcher's day and I look forward to my steak puddings!
I watched a bit of Masterchef last night and reflected that their attitude to food is diametrically opposed to mine. They go for the WOW factor, I aim for tasty solid nourishment. My mutton stews would be laughed out of the room. As for a straight steak pudding, forget it!

Steak Pudding and peas for dinner and unusually for me, a side dish of sweet herring pickle for afters. I had scotch egg and baked beans for tea and finished the herring off. The Fleetwood fish van will be on the square today, I shall re-stock!

I bought sprouts and cauliflower and cooked them. Steak pudding and peas for dinner and Scotch egg with sprouts and cauli for tea, nuts and an apple.
Kathy gave me a jar of hot chilli jelly as it went out of date at the end of the month. It is VERY hot! But a little bit in a bowl of food is a very nice change. Pity about the sugar......

I grilled sausages first thing and had two with the gravy from the grill pan with sprouts and cauli for dinner. For tea I pushed the boat out! I bought two Wild Sea Bream fillets for £6 from the Fleetwood man on Saturday, baked them in foil with lemon juice, salt and pepper, butter and a little bit of chilli jelly and had them with sprouts and cauli for tea.... Quite splendid and hit all Wendy's targets I think for low carbs. Nuts and one apple for pudding.
Incidentally, I did a price comparison of the Co-op 'Irresistible' range of sausages permanently on offer at £5 for two 400gm packs with Kathy's sausages at £5:30 a kilogram..... Funny how I hadn't noticed that before..... I get the Co-op sausages for jack. I shall put him on to Brown's finest......
Mental note, must make some onion and tomato sauce this morning!

I made the tomato and onion sauce. Dinner was a sausage with some of the sauce and sprouts and cauli. Tea was Frozen mixed veggies and two small smoked mackerel fillets.
I soaked some dried peas and slow cooked a ham hock. I have Ham and Pea soup in my sights..... I don't know why but I prefer dried peas when I make it.... Probably down to my mother's teaching! Thank God for a mother who took the trouble to teach me how to cook.
Later..... I have deboned and de-fatted the ham hock and cut it into bite-sized chunks. It is in the slow cooker together with the cider gravy, the peas and all the usual suspects including some of the Hot Chilli Jelly. It will now get cooked very slowly for a long time and will quietly transform to a quite superb ham and pea soup.

Dinner was the reminder of the smoked mackerel fillets with tomato sauce and veggies. Tea was the same but with a sausage. Nuts and an apple for afters.
The ham and pea is coming on, I blitzed it last night and it is now a very nourishing low fat base!

One sausage, tomato and onion and topped up with ham and pea, it's no longer ham and pea soup, its very nourishing pease pudding. Same for tea with nuts and one apple. (I always forget to mention my 20g of 85% chocolate with orange!)

Homemade Hamburgers tonight with lots of Salad...and a few Polenta coated chips. We had Polenta coated chips whilst on holiday...they are rather yummy. You just coat the fresh cut potato batons in spray oil and coat them with Polenta, then cook them in the oven for 45 mins. Crunchy outside, soft and fluffy inside.

Nowt wrong with fish and chips Maz, one of the few fast foods I approve of.
Had steak pudding and pease pudding for dinner. I was naughty at teatime, Kathy slipped two slightly stale teacakes in my bag yesterday and I had two fried egg butties for tea. Sorreeeeeee....

I've made a Fritatta, with Broccoli, Sweet Corn and Baby Spinach...
( a Fritatta is kind of like a Quiche, but does not have a pastry base)

Just a steak pud for dinner. Tea was the last of the pease pudding with a scotch egg in it. Raspberries and cream for pudding.

Nice to see you Liz..... I hope you are well. I don't see why baking shouldn't work. Only thing I can think of is that the longer cooking time might affect the egg yolk and make it black...... Let us know how they turn out!

Moussaka tonight I think.
I've been caught out by the weather. It was forecast for 25C and I dressed accordingly, though it looked a bit dull this morning. Since then we have had rain, thunder and dull skies. My thoughts have turned from Salad to something a little warmer for tea. (and I am about to sort out a pair of socks and long sleeved top too).
Yesterday was very much the same. I dressed warmly but by lunchtime I was peeling off layers as it was extremely warm. Cant win with the weather just now!

When in doubt Maz, always put an extra layer on. You can always discard it.....
Steak pudding, peas and sprouts for dinner. Scotch Egg, mixed veggies and sprouts for tea followed by the last of the Raspberries and cream. Nuts and an apple for afters.
