You can add a pdf file as an attachment, people can then download it if they wish. You would have had to download it first though.plaques wrote: ↑06 Mar 2021, 22:34 Seeking help. In the Pendle Plan I keep viewing quite massive PDF documents that have been obtained through a series of other links in quite a tortuous manner. Is there a way of showing the PDF like the URL linking system so that people can choose to open it up or not.

Thanks Wendy I'll give that a try when I've got through this mornings posts.
Later. The PDF reference is now linked as a attachment download. Can someone tell me how it works out on their computer?

Remember my post about the danger of drunk robots? I wouldn't want to meet this one when it was drunk!...(Don't try to click, it's a still from a video)

Just a point about the still above. You can drop the video in now if you copy it's reference. I added this feature to the post editor some while ago.

Thanks but I can't do it for that, Ian. It was still that I copied it from, not the video page itself.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
The saga of J K Twist continues.... Acting on advice received from HMRC I have spent an hour and a half on the phone (Caused by Covid virus of course. ) and have finished up by reporting thi9s as fraud with the police. Incredibly complicated form I have a National Fraud Reporting case number. I'm told that's as far as I can go.
What puzzles me is why I have received five letters. Even if it's fraud it doesn't explain that.
However I have done all I can. I shall sit here and wait for more letters!
Ten minutes later. They are very quick and efficient. Here's the salient fact from their long reply....
"You have indicated within your report that the misuse of your personal details
or that of a company trading style played a part in the matter you are
reporting. The use of another person’s identity, often referred to as identity
theft, is not a police recordable crime.
In other words, I have wasted half a morning. Not amused.....

I thought these were just letters addressed to a different individual at your address. What is the fraud angle or are they using your NI number or something?

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
I've failed on every other avenue so I will wait and see if I get another letter. If I do I shall go straight to the police as every other avenue has failed.
Ian, if someone is using your address it is Identity Theft. I doubt if there are two J K Twists in Barlick and this one sounds a bit dodgy.

Have you kept any of the letters to show the police, Stanley?

Humax HDR1000S and HDR1100S software patch for YouTube search function not working. There have been ongoing issues with YouTube search on Humax Freesat boxes. I've got the software patch to fix it if anyone is in need.
This is just for the HDR1000S and HDR1100S boxes.

No Peter, all returned to sender but if another comes I shall retain it and perhaps even open it!

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Interesting Kev. Mines an HDR1000S and I have just checked. It will search and return results for previously searched items in the list. However if I try to instigate a new search it produces the alphanumeric block to select your text but when you move to it to select a letter the array disappears just leaving the delete, space and OK boxes.Big Kev wrote: ↑09 Mar 2021, 11:24 Humax HDR1000S and HDR1100S software patch for YouTube search function not working. Can you upload the patch as an attachment so that I can download it and give it a whirl please.

Re: COMPUTERS, THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY
Thanks Kev, that's no problem.
You will have seen the TalkTalk promotion when you go to the on demand services. Just had a look and it only applies to new fibre contracts for 35 or 65mbps tariffs. Sods law, I am already on the 65mbps deal, but I did get it at the same price as my previous deal. Would have been nice a brand spanking new 4K recordable box, oh well.

The reviews haven't been good for the 4k box though, I don't have a 4k tv either

`More than 3,000 UK email servers remain at risk from the global Microsoft Exchange email flaw, officials believe.
The National Cyber Security Centre said it estimated 7,000 servers had been affected by the flaw in the UK and only half had been secured. It said malicious software had been detected on 2,300 machines but it had helped businesses remove it....But after Microsoft warned the world it had identified the problem, and urged all its users to download the latest security updates, other hacking groups quickly became familiar with the flaw. The result is a widespread free-for-all as multiple hacking groups all try to find unpatched email servers to attack.
