A close relative of mine has been struck down by a nasty cold just as he was recovering from the last one. How common is this? My experience is that you have a cold and then have a respite from infection when you recover because your immunity is enhanced. Does this no longer hold true?

Immunity is specific. If it is a different cold virus then he will not be immune to it, in fact his resistance may be low as he has just been ill

Nevertheless I understood the answer Sue. Thanks. He spends a lot of time with my great grandchildren..... That may be the source of his infections. Children can be a mixed blessing!

Sally has just managed to get through to Blackburn Hospital to chase her scan appointment which was instigated 10 days ago and they said would be at Burnley. She has managed to get a cancellation for 1st May. The normal list is 5 weeks even for the ones flagged as urgent as Sally was! The scan will be at Blackburn though, thankful for small mercies as they say. She just wants a proper diagnosis and then she can get on with dealing with it.

Got my booster yesterday at Well. Uneventful and so far no side effects.

A few aches and pains which I am putting down to affects from the booster....?
A couple of Paracetamol and an easy day.....

I'm now fairly sure that the aches and pains I have had for the last couple of days can be marked down to the booster jab. I had an easy day yesterday apart from changing duvet covers and washing. Last night I slept 7 hours solid which is quite unusual and when I woke this morning the aches and pains were almost completely gone. I feel as though I have come out of some sort of attack. This is good. I have taken a couple of ibuprofen and will take it easy.

I have to avoid Ibuprofen as it has the potential to interact with other medications I take, Metformin being one of them.

Taking Metformin together with ibuprofen or similar anti-inflammatory medications may increase the risk of a rare but serious and potentially life-threatening condition known as lactic acidosis, which is a buildup of lactic acid in the blood that can occasionally occur during treatment with metformin-containing products.

I have to avoid Ibuprofen as it has the potential to interact with other medications I take, Metformin being one of them.

I can’t take ibuprofen either, its acidic apparently and counteracts the omaprazole I take for acid reflux. Hence I couldn’t take it for my wrist and had to stick to paracetamol

I bet there are some interesting biochemical reactions going on there affecting the Krebs cycle of respiration. That sounds clever but I could never remember the Krebs cycle and had to have a fool proof way of teaching it. I could explain it when written down but not describe it

The WHO are making what has been described as a 'power grab' to take control of all future pandemics. Rather than the advisory status they have at the moment they (WHO) will become totally autonomous dictating what each country must do and which vaccines have to be used. The WHO organisers will have total diplomatic immunity and pay no taxes. It also sounds like the big money contributors (big Pharma) will dictate the agenda. At this point in time there doesn't appear to be a vote in Parliament to debate this new International rule. This could be the biggest loss of sovereignty that the UK has ever seen. All done behind closed doors.

Remember we have a government that leans towards making money rather than protecting people's rights.

I hadn't realised that Ibuprofen like aspirin is a blood thinner. So that's it, banned and like Sue I will use paracetamol instead.
Another little problem solved.....

Yes, hence me not taking it, it makes tge acid reflux worse
