Illegitimi non carborundum. Something about 'Don't give in'. Don't know why this sticks in my mind but it does!!

Not me! Not guilty!
I've been racking my brains and I haven't a clue what product it was. I cannot remember it being posted previously and I'm not going to cheat and look back for it. From the clues I guess it could be emery paper or grinding wheels, leaving your work as smooth as a native American's skin, though they probably didn't use politically correct terms back then.

Sorry Plaques, China is right I mixed you two up.
Actually China is so close I am going to come clean. The Native American head was the trademark of the Carborundum Company and the slogan was 'Hardest and Sharpest'. (LINK)
Next for shaving?

I think its a false bit of Latin with the intended meaning 'Don't the the ba**ards grind you down' we used to use it in my forces days.

How about this for an inspired bit of deduction. Tizer keeps popping in bits in 'Winged Heroes about Eric (winkle) Brown from his book. So if this is a family photo with the little boy being Eric the the old geezer would be his father Robert Brown. QED. If you eliminate the obvious then.... On the other hand...

I haven't the faintest idea but like P's reasoning......

Good thinking Plaques but no, nothing to do with Brown. The link is with someone you all know about although those in the photo are probably all dead by now.

OK using the same logic and starting with Donald Trump the back to Fred Trump and then 'Friedrich Drumpf'??

Well done! You're too good at this. Yes, the man is Donald Trump's grandfather, Friedrich Trump, later known as Frederick Trump. The boy on the left of the photo is his son, Frederick Christ "Fred" Trump, the father of Donald. Just look at Fred's eyes and you can see Donald there! It's worth looking at the Wikipedia page for Fred Trump, especially the various controversies in which he was involved. Friedrich was born in Bavaria and emigrated to the United States at the age of 16 but Donald liked to tell everyone that he came from Sweden.

Here's a photo showing the young Donald, the tall boy on the left of the picture.

They are at County Brook and from the boreholes for Whitemoor reservoir I believe.

Ian is right about the Whitemoor bore but wrong about where it is now (With others if you look for them) which is in Letcliffe Park.
