Not a sound.... When geologists investigated the Sgurr they found the remains of trees underneath the igneous rock. Pretty good evidence I always thought!
Next one?

You'll have to explain that later Wendy, there's obviously something about grooming horses that I know nothing about!
(You obviously recognised it.....)

Too easy I guess, Tiz got it exactly right. I have been told that it was originally fitted in a Hurricane.
Next for shaving?

According to this web page: `The Type P8 Navigational Compass, Ref 6A/0726, was used across numerous aircraft of the British Royal Air Force during WWII, including Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito, and Beaufighter.'

I didn't expect it to last long and true to form it didn't. Both PanBiker and StoneRoad are fundamentally correct. A Soligor 8mm splicer. I bought it about 5 years ago from a junk stall for about 20p but at that time I didn't really know what it was only that it was nicely made and took my fancy. So there it sat totally neglected until today when like a shooting star it had a brief moment of fame.
