Hello everyone,

I have been snooping on this site for a while now since my grandmother Joyce Grave died in October 2011 and got looking into my family tree which led me to seek out old photographs of the area where I found this site and have finally decided to join. I am still interested in finding out information about the Grave/Demaline family so if anyone does know anything I would be very grateful.

Hi Katie, welcome to the site. If you could give us a few more details about the families you are researching it might help. There were Demaines in Earby, but I haven't heard of Demaline.

Welcome Katie. Billy Demeline ran a barber's shop in Barlick 1920/1930.
Find the Lancashire Textile Project on the site, go to Ernie Roberts transcripts, 78/AC/2 has Ernie talking about working as a lather boy for Billy Demeline in the barber's shop next door but one to the Seven Stars, later the Excelsior Saloon (see my article 'Next for Shaving'). In 78/AC/7 Ernie talks about his son serving in India during WW2.
Here's the shop in 1900 when it was run by a man called Shaw.

Unfortunately it isn't yet possible to access many of the transcripts in the LTP on the old site, including the one you mention Stanley. I can get into the list of Ernie Roberts transcripts but no further.

I've tried and you're right Wendy. I'll have to have a word with Doc about it.
