Thinking of cat names got me thinking... I've had cats named Sooty, Whiskas, Snuffy, Ashes, Pepi, Kitty (aka Pixiepaws Drumbellina - don't ask), Blue and Lady. (1, possibly 2 more but have forgotten their names.)

How about you, what names have you given your cats over the years??

Can't remember the names of our cats but in Northfield I knw one called Toff who became quite famous at Carleton College because he wandered round and became a celbrity. They have a statue of him in the Gould Library.

Torties can be either ( male or female)as far as I know. They say all pure ginger/ marmalade cats are males...like my old darling Basil. ( adorable boy he was).

God knows... my Russian Blue (called Blue) had a Pure White Grandmother.
The breeder said it was to give him a soft coat.

Male tortoiseshells are very rare and are usually born sterile. Most people also believe that ginger tabby's are all males, this is incorrect, the girls are outnumbered by nearly 4:1 in the chromosome battle. Less than 30% turn out to be female. Primrose is a proper Ginger Tabby with what I call a raccoon tail. She was the only ginger striped kitten in the litter and was the runt of a barn litter. Consequently she eats everything that is available to her and will clean up anything left by our other cat. Millie is the smaller tortie and the matriarch. Half the size of Primrose but does not yield in any way to her and will often give her "a good hiding" when chase/play fighting. The bigger cat for all her size always backs down.

We debated the female ginger tabby thing on the old site.

A Yorkshire cat joke which was posted on Facebook. It really tickled me and I hope it will do the same for you.

A Yorkshire man takes his cat to the vet. Yorkshireman: "Ayup, lad, I need to talk to thee about me cat." Vet: "Is it a tom?" Yorkshireman: "Nay, I've browt it wi me".
