Success at last.
Success at last.
For two years I have been trying to get hold of a pocket watch by Rotherham and son, a Coventry watch and clock manufacturer. The company came into being in 1750 and was one of the last English manufacturers. They had a varied career and diversified into the manufacture of all sorts of engineering parts. The watch is in very poor condition, but with a little patience I managed to get the movement to run for a couple of hours. The watch case will have to go for specialist repair, and when I phoned the guy up he reckoned he had a wating time of seven months. So probably no picture posted this year. At a rough guess it was made around 1915, there are little things they did at that time to bypass the 30% taxation on luxory goods, and still supply the empire that give it away.
