Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)
The plan today was to strip off the plywood, from the bedroom door, to reveal the original 4 panel door underneath. That didn't happen, it's just a flat door albeit a very well made flat door but not what I was expecting to see. A trip to B&Q and I now have a 4 panel, knotty pine replacement and £60 less in my wallet
Best get my overalls on.

It fits in the hole now which is always a bonus, quarter of an inch off the width and an inch off the height. Handles, lock, coat hooks and a bit of paint and it's sorted

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)
It was a straightforward job, the frame was square so just a quick trim off the bottom and one side, rebate the hinges and hang it
I fitted a new mixer tap at the Barlick Raj, yesterday teatime, on their 'washing up' sink. The old one was spraying water all over the place, not ideal in a busy restaurant.

I love the new one I had fitted when the new boiler was installed. I'd forgotten what a delight a precise shut-off was and how it improved general tidiness.... They'll have the same experience at the restaurant.

They were very pleased. No door progress today, I have replaced the rear brake pads on the Hyundai (took advantage of the dry day). They were picked up as an advisory on the MOT in August so it was about time I did the job. £18 was a bargain from an independent spares shop in Scotland Road, Nelson

All these 'little jobs' would be completely beyond me these days.I learn to live within my limitations and not go into terminal angst about what I can't do. That's why making my engines in the shed is so important to me....

Back on with painting the new bedroom door, had to bob out to Toolstation in Colne for another can of primer undercoat which slowed the job down. I'll be back on it again once I've been fed

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)
Three coats of primer undercoat and one of gloss, it may well need another, but it's looking neat and tidy. That'll do for now, a day of not much tomorrow and back to regular work on Wednesday.

Dashcam fitting today. Hardwired front and rear cams to my Hyundai ix35 and same to my neighbour's Hyundai Kona EV. Kept me out of mischief for a couple of hours

Bit of painting today, granddaughter's bedroom is now mostly pale grey. The end wall will be a 'glittery' pink paper. That should keep her happy for a while

Paulette wanted led lights around the picture rail in the dining room, kept me out of mischief for a bit. They come on a flexible, sticky strip. It was just a case of peeling off the protective backing and sticking them down, a transformer at one end and a remote control, lots of different colours and a timer. There's also Bluetooth connectivity and a phone app for sound activated colour changing and flashing. They'll probably just be used in 'white' mode though. A bargain at £9.99

Re: Miscellaneous DIY Projects (or bits of jobs)
I made a little box, with a door, to hide the 'mish-mash' of light switches in the Barlick Raj. Some offcuts of 2x1, a leftover bit of MDF, a couple of hinges, an old kitchen cabinet handle and a magnetic catch. A few coats of paint, left over from a previous spot of decorating, finished it off. It's fixed to the wall with a couple of 'L' brackets I had in my toolbox. I knew all those bits and bobs would come in handy one day
I'm no cabinet maker but it does the job.
