A further downside to the recent upgrade which you may not be aware of.

I've sent an email to Ian so he's aware. It got quite a bit pricier to run OGFB. THe last two months I've had an extra bill for an IP address for the new VPS system. Its on special offer until March next year of £5.00 + VAT per month when it will become £10.00 + VAT per month.

Eventually if and when IPV6 becomes a real thing across the Internet this should disappear.

Just a heads up.

No mention of any charges for IPV4 addresses in all the phone or online conversations with 1&1 IONIS during the recent move to a VPS solution for the site. I was made aware of the increased charges for the VPS instance which was deemed to be affordable. We had a reduced charge deal for the first three months after which the slight increase in monthly hosting charges will kick in.

Adding £18.00 per quarter to the overheads is a bit steep but maybe sustainable for the short term.

Roll on IPV6 more addresses than you can shake a stick at. Lets hope IONiS move to IPV6 sooner rather than later.

Don't let it worry you too much. Just give us a heads up if and when it needs addressing. Are we going to get regular balances now so we can keep an eye on solvency?

I will put an update of funding up after the next quarterly bill and regularly until we have settled down into the full package charges for the hosting.

Good Ian. I think you'll find we will all react appropriately. Controlling the finances of OG must not carry with it any element of risk or worry. I value the site too much to live with that and I don't think I am alone.
