You're welcome. It's comforting to know that you'll probably sleep more soundly in your bed tonight in the knowledge that you won't be catching Ebola when you go out in the morning! :extrawink:

The Telegraph's cartoon today shows a father opening a card from his son that says `World's Best Dad'. The son is saying to him: `I sent one to Boris Johnson too, just in case.'

Bojo is no joke!!

Not often you see a washing line full of nappies these days. Well done that mother!

I love washing lines, so much information! (As in this brilliant pic posted by Wendy in 2017) Bit like bookshelves, if you interrogate them you can learn so much!

Indeed I do! I also remember women never hanging their underwear outside while it was OK to hang men's underpants there. It's a long time since I heard a case of knickers being pinched off clothes lines.....
The escalation in the Middle East.... I look back and reflect that it's strange that the part of the world that was the cradle of civilisation was suppressed by the West using the power of industrial development and we are now suffering the inevitable consequences.

It has just occurred to me that the 'East Lancs Road' (A 580) route of many Sunday Bike rides in my youth - and built with cycle lanes well before it became fashionable - is not actually in 'East Lancs'.

PS. and Rory Stewart's legs reached all the way to the floor, whilst the others put them on the foot rests. Yet when he stood up he wasn't really any taller than the rest.
I confess - I sneaked back for another quick look.....It was no better.

Well...I've never seen nappies like THAT before, Stanley. (Are they nappies? Or some sort of medical apparel?)
Love the frozen long johns.
We can't complain about wet washing here. I would say we get over 300 days a year that washing will dry on the clothes line. Very rare that I have to finish it off for 5 mins in the tumble dryer. I know some younger folk who would never dream of hanging washing out. I don't know what is wrong with them ( well I do...a mixture of laziness and entitlement I suspect). I would rather have my power bill than theirs.

I suppose, strictly speaking you're right David but in its defence it does go from Liverpool to East Lancs.

Maidenhead Aquatics's Taunton branch has the address Blackdown Garden Centre, Piccadilly, Wellington, Somerset. How about that for a lot of imposing geographical name-dropping!

Seeing this article `Young drinkers lead the trend for alcohol-free beer' LINK I'm prompted to ask have any of you found an alcohol-free or low-alcohol beer that tastes good and is like beer? I've tried ones in the past but they were always poor quality - perhaps they are better now.?

Not tried one for quite a while but I know the first ones they brought out tasted like anti-freeze. I am told though that nowadays some are a reasonable facsimile. Not that hooked on beer or lager although I do enjoy the odd pint. if I'm not drinking the real stuff I usually just have a J2O variant, on the rocks of course.

Can't drink Beer. Can't drink Spirits/Port/Gin/Sherry/Brandy etc. can't drink "white wine". Can't drink Champagne.
Can only drink one brand of Shiraz/Cabernet which they tell me...will be discontinued soon.
Looks like I will be in dry dock soon...

I see Tesco offer it so I'll have a look in our Tesco Metro shop and see if they have it. Thanks!

I asked for a gill of their most expensive bitter yesterday and they brought a pint to we all shared it. Lovely meal at the Black Cat in Ilkley sat outside (no flies) with Chris, Vicki and Mick. We supported the Ilkley retail economy, I left a pair of brogues to be repaired and had a pair of Tricker Boots heeled. Then I went mad and bought a Failsworth cap, a potato peeler and and a new 16gb flash card for my Sureshot. Lovely day and it warmed up nicely after a chilly morning.....
I ate that much I had to unbutton my waistcoat!

That gives the impression that they didn't know what a gill was, could that be true?
I'm surprised UK pubs aren't using metric measurements for beer.
Looks like you had a great day.

My actual words were 'a half of bitter' but they made a mistake. You're right China, it was lovely and made so by nice people who are such good friends......
Not a lot grabbed me, I just had a pleasant quiet day....

We discussed the different meanings of gill (half or quarter pint capacity) in the Dialect thread recently. I've just had a look in my Collin's dictionary and they're quiet straightforward about it: gill, 1) quarter pint, 2) northern dialect, half pint.

Yes Tiz but very few use the term today I think. (Certainly not so much in the South......)
The kerfuffle in F1 racing, the drivers are arguing with the FIA about the rules, they say there are too many.... They could be right, hard to apply strict H&S on men doing 130mph.
I improved my new Trickers by getting a good insole for them. I erred on the large size after requests from the two Micks to make sure they were big enough to fit them when I die..... Now they have smooth soles and the insoles they are like carpet slippers.

-3C here this morning (and no such thing as central heating)!
We decided against a bike ride, but had a long walk with jackets, scarfs and mittens. It was 6C when we walked the local markets late morning. Very sunny for such a cold day.

...how slow the housing market is for properties in a particular price bracket. I put mine on the market 4 weeks ago and have had 3 viewings, it's on at £5k under the valuation. Perhaps I'm just impatient :biggrin2:
