So true, reminds me of things going wrong at the wrong times. Just a few days before Christmas my toilet decided to leak and i decided not to worry the landlady until after the new year because I thought it would cost her more to call out a plumber who was probably on holidays . Anyway, all was fixed. Tomorrow is a public holiday for us here (Aust. Day) and today my lounge ceiling light fixture decides it won't accept another bulb. I think the plastic has probably deteriorated. Tonight I am sat here in the light of the computer screen and a small tabletop lamp. The landlady will come and have a look tomorrow, then another day to ring the electrician, then the weekend, then maybe a phonecall from the electrician, then a visit.

When I first spent time in Northfield MN I noticed that many of the cars didn't indicate when turning, mind you the average speed in the town was well below 20mph. I enquired and was told that they didn't need to because everyone knew where they were going!

Common in small town America GAK. Something most visitors never get to experience. Totally different than the major centres.
