List of recent forum topics
List of recent forum topics
Would it be possible to have the list of recent forum topics in a long list on the left of the screen as on the old site? I am trying to get the hang of the new site but I don't think my brain is keeping up with me.

I don't know if this is what you meant, but you can easily bring up the topics you want by clicking a specific area on the Board Index page.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Thankyou Callunna, I should probably spend some more time reading what is under my nose on the site.

Glo ... there's so much new stuff and everything is in a different place - it's no wonder we're ALL thrashing around trying to get to grips with the site.
However, there are no features from the old site that I miss and lots on the new site that I like - so once again, well done Doc and it's worth the extra effort temporarily needed to suss it out.

Re: List of recent forum topics
I think I've worked out a routine for catching all the posts. I go to the member's forum and look at the active topics on there and then have a look at the Board Index section to pick any posts up in the forums not covered in the member's section. It's working for me. I agree with Heather, nothing I really miss from the old site now that I'm getting a feel for the new one. One thing that I may need re-educating on, I've cracked the URL posting but miss the ability to transfer a long URL to a single word like "Look at this LINK". Has anyone found a way of doing this?

Stanley to place a long URL or any URL for That Matter into a topic is as follows
Copy the Url you wish to link to (right Click->copy in the browser bar) on the page you wish to link to.
In the following instructions I have replaced "[" with "{" and "]" with "}" to stop it producing an actual url for display purposes only
Click on the URL button in the topic editor this will give you {url}{/url}
Insert a "=" at the end of the first {url} before the bracket enter the url of your link like this {url=}{/url}
Immediately after the "=" paste in the Url (Right Click -> Paste) like this {url=http://www.yourverylongurl.com/evenlongerurl.htm}{/url}
Then between the bracket sets enter the text "Click This Link" or another word you want to associate with the link like this:
{url=http://www.yourverylongurl.com/evenlongerurl.htm}Click This Link{/url}
and thats it, your done. Don't forget to replace the { & } with [ & ] when your actualy doing it.
An Example would be like this:
This is some sample text that links to another page when someone clicks on this {url=http://www.yourverylongurl.com/evenlong ... }Link{/url}.
Now if I replace the { & } with [ & ] you will get this in the final post

I've just asked the question 'Message to DOC: Any chance perhaps of a separate forum for poetry just as we have for fun & jokes and puzzles?' in General Miscellaneous Chat & Gossip - Poetry ...... Not been paying enough attention to seek out the correct place to post ..... Eventually I'll get the hang of it

Yes it is Tiz and Docs post copied verbatim, along with another in the API problem thread. I have banned the so called "member" as the posts look like the work of an internet Troll. They are not taking up residence under our bridge
