The Dambusters used the location for practice runs, I don't think the bomb was tested there Tom. Where is it?

A friend of mine had a cottage in Rhayader in cental Wales where there was 3 dams that was used for the film (apparently)don't know about the test flights ??

Derwent and Ladybower dams in Derbyshire were used by the Dambusters for practice runs. Terrain and the actual look of the dams are remarkably similar to what was to become their target.

Tom has got it. There are four dams in the Elan Valley which is close to Rhayader. Three of them were used not only for the filming but some of the practice Runs. (The Largest, The Claerwan Dam wasn't completed until 1952.)
Derwent Valley and Ladybower were also used so Ian was correct about the use but the wrong dam.
